I had this exact car and I had all the same problems your talking about, The pump although I can't tell you for sure is on the left side of the engine as your looking at it. If it is whining it is because it is low on fluid, also when topping it off fill it to the full mark while it is running. If it is foamy turn the steering wheel all the way left and all the right a few time to help get rid of the air. You may have to let it sit a while to let the bubble escape, check and do this again, it could be a bad pump also. The overheating problem I had with mine was a bad temp sensor for the computer. It has two temp guages and the computer uses on to activate the fan as needed. I also had another problem with mine, on the front of the intake is a small plastic elbow for a heater hose and this goes bad. Had to replace mine. Wasn't hard, and the part was cheap. Hope this helps you!

the power steering pump is mounted on the front of the motor, the pump has a lid which you unscrew to add fluid. if you cant find the pump follow the serpentine belt until it goes around the pump (large Pulley) with about a four or so inch long neck. Make sure you buy the fluid made for your vehicle.

? General Motors Co is recalling 1.3 million compact cars

DETROIT (Reuters) – General Motors Co is recalling 1.3 million compact cars in North America to address a power steering problem that has been linked to 14 crashes and one injury, the company said on Tuesday.
U.S. safety regulators opened an investigation on January 27 into approximately 905,000 Cobalt models in the United States after receiving more than 1,100 complaints of power steering failures. The complaints included 14 crashes and one injury.
The recall covers the 2005-2010 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007-2010 Pontiac G5 in the United States; 2005-2006 Pontiac Pursuit sold in Canada, and the 2005-2006 Pontiac G4 sold in Mexico, GM said in a statement.
GM said it told the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about the voluntary recall on Monday after concluding its own investigation that began in 2009.

I had a water pump put on my car a 2008 Pontiac g6. Now all of my power steering fluid have came out. What could of caused all the fluid to come out?

The installer may have knocked a rubber hose off of the power steering pump whilst repairing the water pump.
Fill the power steering pump reservoir whilst the engine is shut off, then take a strong light and watch whilst someone starts the engine, and see from whence cometh the power steering fluid.
Be prepared to receive a power steering fluid bath.
God bless your efforts.

How to drain power steering fluid on 2007 pontiac g6

The 2007 Pontiac G6 does not have power steering fluid. It has electric power assisted steering. No power steering fluid to ever have to change.

you have a known condition with the ELECTRIC power steering (hence no fluid needed)

Have a 2007 Pontiac G5 and need to add power steering fluid.

its tricky. its behind the engine. If you pop the hood and you go to the left side, look behind the block and it chould be about half way down or so. You should see the cap for it. I think that was a horrible idea on pontiacs part. Happy motoring!

The power steering light is on in my 2007 Pontiac G5 Coupe

  • You have Electric Power Steering (EPS) not the traditional power steering pump. So there is no place to put power steering fluid in your vehicle.

  • Hope this helps.
