Question about Cars & Trucks
I have a 98 dodge Dakota 4x4 with the 318 in it when I go over 55 mph for 15 miles my o/d off light comes on if I continue at such speeds then my trans temp light comes on don't no if I only need a tranny filter change the shift solenoid and pressure solenoid or if I can flush my tranny cooler out some how with like compressed air or something on the line thank u to any1 that gives me a good answer that could work
Check the oil level first
too low and it will be low on pressure and overheat
too much and it will froth up and give the same indications
run the fault codes to check for sensor , servo or solenoid faults

Dave, The P0700 code is a generic fault code indicating the the TCM (transmission control module) has recognized a problem and the P0755 is the indicated problem. I'd recommend you check your transmission external electrical connector for water intrusion and corrosion at the terminals by disconnecting the connector. If nothing appears wrong, I'd then recommend you drop the lower transmission pan and take a look at the residue deposit that is laying on the bottom of the pan. You should only see a relativily minor amount of grayish, black clutch material residing there. Pay particular attention for a gross amount of this or any large particular material, including any metal, either filings or chunks, or any brass or aluminum. If this checks out to be fairly clean, then I'd recommend you replace that "B" solenoid (2-3 shift solenoid) and have the trans. pan and filter replaced.; I'd also highly recommend you have the trans flushed for anyother particular matter that may reside internally inside the transmission. You'll have to have the codes cleared and the transmission relearned for shift feel, at that point.

your trans cooler is restricted. most likely it is part of your radiator and if it is restricted you will either need to replace the radiator or install an aftermarket cooler. have your trans cooler flow checked and go from there

My 1999 dodge 4x4 2500 diesel transmission surges back and forth between gears at 45 mph. I had my transmission rebuilt and it keeps happening. What is going on.
