What code's and were they diagnosed , You can't just pull a battery cable and have the light go off . If the light comes back on there is a hard falt . Trouble Codes Just incase your not familiar with DTC'S and OBD2 diagnostic's
Are you asking how to reset the computer or how to clear an error code/check engine light? Clearing a check engine light (which will also clear the error code) can be done with a code scanner. These are usually available for use at little or no cost at any larger auto parts store (they may even connect the scanner for you and record/clear the code). One word of caution, however: if you clear the code but don't repair the cause, the code and light will return after a brief amount of time. Now as for resetting the computer itself, not recommended that you try since error codes are stored in non-volatile memory. Disconnecting the battery's positive terminal for an hour or so may clear the check engine light, but, again, it will reappear and regenerate the error code unless the cause is fixed. Good luck.
When the Check Engine light comes on that means that the computer in your Explorer has set Diagnostic trouble codes and stored them in the computers memory. After all repairs are made to all D.T.C. The codes need to be erased from your computer, this resets the Check Engine Light, and it should not come on again untill the computer finds another falt.Good Luck.
hallo first try to dicconect batery for one minute. this will reset (erase) foult code. do test drive and check error codes again (within 5 sec switch ignition key on-off, on-off, on. count mil flashes, write it down on paper. no 12 and 55 (end) are normal. everithing betwin are errors. if error 33 presist there is something wrong with AC reley or wiring.
