fuel pump is generally located in the fuel tank.... it involves dropping the tank to replace it. if you call a repair shop they will give you the hours it takes (most if not all shops use a flat rate now).

Why do you think the pump has failed ?

When you turn on the key and go to the rear of the car you should be able to hear it

I presume you checked with the key in the start position... ok... now check the fuse and the relay that is located in the fuse panel inside the engine compartment near the battery.

Relays are relatively cheap ... replace it and see if the fuel pump works now.

What is the cost to replace fuel sending unit in a 2001 Buick Century?

Price would depend on where you live and where the part is purchased. The tank would need to be removed to replace the sending unit and the pump is usually included.
Cost of parts could be over $400 plus labor.

1992 Buick Century Custom. Trouble starting as though not getting gas. Changed the fuel pump and filter and still has the problem. After a few trys it will start and run ok. ?????

Sounds like you need to replace the fuel pump relay which is about $13 at Autozone. It is simple to replace. It is under the hood on the passenger side right behind the headlights.

Car died. changed fuel pump and both filters. car will turn over but will not start. any help is appreciated.

Check for spark and fuel as a starting point. If you're getting fuel pressure at the rail, then the fuel pump and filters are not the problem.

Possible crankshaft sensor if the spark is not getting to the spark plugs in the 1992 Buick Century.

Shuts down after getting hot 1992 buick century custom has high mileage transmission is okay last tune up at 60,000 one plug was not changed hard to get to

What you need to do is check and see if your losing fuel or spark when it dies.If it`s spark then you probably have a bad ignition module. If fuel you will have to check the fuel pressure. If it is a 3.3 then it should be 41-47 psi.If not check fuel filter for being plugged. If ok then replace fuel pump.Hope this helps.Good luck.
