As mentioned above, was it same mechanic? I have not seen or heard of any technical service bulletin or recalls on this particular problem, so it doesn't appear to be factory defect, so right now everything is pointing back at the mechanic. Do you know by chance where he is getting these axles?

Do not take it to the same mechanic, get a second opinion, is very strange, you mean the axle that goes to differential?

Here I go again. My wheels on my 2003 Grand Cherokee has started burning again. What is the problem?

abs modulator, is bad. sad how your shops don't do tests. To find this... your brakes are dragging, so, what cause that? abs or master cylinder issues. has someone messed with there of the master cylinder, the rear piston clearances? above the pedal. I'd find a real ASE shop or top brake shop in town. tell them brakes drag and your story.'

one caliper all by self can drag,
say the guide pins seize or piston.
sound like its no just one brake dragging
but a real shop tests and proves all that.

See if your getting spark at the ign. coil first (passengers side on that year) if you are change the crank shaft sensor making sure you mount it as close to the engine as possible so it never gives you trouble again.

My 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a hole in the rubber boot protecting the cv joint on the passenger side front axle, how do I fix it?

BEst way to due the job is to just replace the front axle, this assures you that there is not sand or any other forein material that could cause any issues with your axles. Especially if this is a 4 wheel drive.

There is a knocking in my driver side front tire,It feels like its going to break off but I dont see anything broke but when I hit the smallest bump or hole it sounds and feels like its going to snap. I...

Dodge is known for using rubber bushings in everything. They don't squeak like the poly ones do but they do rot after 10 or 15 years and cause clunking noises like you described. More than likely your clunking is coming from a tie rod which is what connects your steering wheel to your tires. Crawl under the truck near the wheel and look for the steel bar that hooks up to the back of it. Have a friend turn the wheel back and forth, or grab the bar and give it a hard shake. If there is any play, the bushing is shot. You can replace the tie rod ends yourself using the old ones to compare but it will still need an alignment, so I usually let a shop do it. New poly bushings will cost a little more but you will never have to replace them again. A good alignment shop should charge less than $200

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4X4 4.0L. Just recently bought and there's a popping noise in the front and when turning sharply it's like the wheels lock and the jeep refuses to move and it's also...

sounds like a bad cv joint in one (or both) of the front axles. is the popping sound more prevalent when in reverse, with the wheel turned? if so, i'd assume that it is a bad cv joint and one or both front axles will need to be replaced.

The front end shakes badly when going over a bump

That and other bushings and idler arms worn. I would suggest a free inspection somewhere for them to show you what needs repaired.

On my 1996 jeep cherokee v 8 awd I have a hose on the front axle

If there is no obvious place to attach this hose, and it doesn't appear to be broken at the end from being attached to something, it's probably a vent tube from the axle, and is nothing to worry about.
