i have a 2001y reg transit tipper and i think the starter motor is going when i go to start it like grinds then some times it starts perfect

This job can be a disaster if you do not support the engine correctly before starter bolts are removed. Work on level ground and use trolley jack if possible to ensure engine is supported at exactly correct height on removal of the starter bolts. You should be able to remove by hand freely for the last few turns to ensure correct support position. Do not alter jack after removal.

Car just refuses to start

Clicking usually indicates low charge on battery, but it can also be the contacts from the battery to the engine and frame. Check the cables to see if they are not making good contact or corroded--if you are a DIY enthusiast change the battery cables or get a metal-wire brush & wrenches & clean everywhere they connect.

Another preliminary task is to do a wiggle test--wiggle all the wiring you can see under the hood & try restarting to see if there's an intermittant wiring or harness connection problem with anything under the hood. Honda Pilots have problems like this with the main wiring harness.

Google replacing starter motor on Google and you tube. And watch it while they move the old unit. It'll help you out. Hope this helps

Transit connect diesel 56 reg, speedo stopped working, glow plug light on all time, fuel gauge and temp inop all fuses checked all ok

Sounds like a computer issue, need to test with diagnostic like snap on, garage or dealer has these.

Hi if you can get to the starter you can check the wires on it to make sure their not loose and if you have to you can take a screwdriver and with the switch on find the solinoid on the side of the starter and with the screwdriver touch the small wire and the big wire and this will engage the starter and crank the van. Ford transit T reg 1999 does not start when engine cold battery good but will bump start . When starting engine turns slowly.

hi mate it sounds like a lazy starter moter but failing in that a one off problem is try changing your oil yeah it sound silly but a have had one in the past and that was the problem as the oil sank to the sump over nite and caused it like a dry friction once it was started and oil was up it would fire all day
