THERE HAVE BEEN ALOT OF PLOBLEMS WITH THE SHIFTER HANDLE/SWITCH. THE BEST WAY TO VERIFY CONCERN IS USE A DIAG. SCANNER & VIEW TRANSMISSION DATA DISPLAY WHILE ENGINE RUNNING. THE SWITCH IN THE SHIFTER IS FAULTY. IF YOU SEE NO INPUT CHANGE WHILE DEPRESSING SWITCH THIS IS YOUR CONCERN.

SOURCE: tow/haul light wont turn off
I have found that on three silverado's there is a plastic clamp on the bottom side of steering column where the wires become broken and can short out. You have to remove the column covers to see this, it should be claser to the lowe dash trim panel area needs a shifter to repair unless you can fix that little wire!

Replace the solenoid pack, or the wiring to the trans has problems. Usaully the solenoid pack in our Chrysler trans, but every once in a while, it is bad wiring.
