There are NO emissions diagrams for XB V8 Falcons.
The ONLY emissions hose they have is a PCV in rocker cover connected to the air cleaner housing.

SOURCE: Emission System Warning came on

This means that there was a malfunction in the emission system, ignition system, or transmission. The computer has seen the problem and set a trouble code which would lead you to the system that is causing the concern. Now understand this, it tells you which system malfunctioned it does not tell you exactly what part is bad contrary to popular believe.
Now to retrieve this code you must do this with a scan tool. Some places like auto zone will retrieve them for free. However be aware that their equipment will only retrieve the code and no other information. The reason I mention this is on this vehicle when the light is set the computer records what is called freeze frame data. This is recorded data that tells the technician what conditions your vehicle was operating under when the code set. If your problem is intermittent then this information may be vital to him in diagnosing your vehicle. This information is erased when codes are retrieved.
So my recommendation is to have a technician you know and trust to check your vehicle.

If you want the display to go back to the speedo just push the 'Read' button on the center console and it will cycle through until the speedo comes up. But if the error does not get cleared up or if it goes and suddenly comes back .If anything like that happens, this indicates the problem is with 02 sensor or the catalytic converter. The vehicle has to be connected to obdII tool and scanned for codes or you can take it to the diagnostic scan center and get the codes checked and cleared by replacing the faulty part.02 Sensors are in the catalyst assembly - pretty easy to change. But first get the error codes detected .By this you will be confirm which sensor or which other part to be replaced. Get car scanned at diagnosis center to get error codes, at diagnosis center you will receive the error code. As per the error code it will detect the exact faulty part in the car due to which the problem is occurring. For more help: --- at it's absolutely free to get car scanned.

Aren't there hose clamps on the two hoses at the firewall? That hose should come off right there-one is connected to the heater core inlet inside the heater case, the other hose is connected to the heater core outlet tube. While you are at it, replace both hoses. Heater hoses are standard sizes, like only two sizes, larger is 3/4 " diameter. Take an old piece of your hose to parts store for replacement. They have rolls of heater hoses, can cut you off just what you need for low price.
If the hose clamps are not on the hoses at firewall, they must be accessed from under the dash, but should be easily accessible.
Really, a 1962 falcon? 50 years old and still going? That was the year I graduated high school, driving a 1957 Dodge two door black hardtop, yes, the big finned clown car-lol.

Emissions light stays on 1986 ford f-150 302 v8

You should have a mass of small air hoses and connectors on top of your motor. Check to make sure these are all connected and check for holes. There is a diagram right above the radiator when you have the hood open that tells where they are supposed to go. If none of the hoses are are there, which is common, the truck will still work but may not accelerate well and you won't pass a strict inspection. This was one of the first strict years on emissions and these systems are a nightmare.
