The oil level may be fine, but the oil may be too thick, or you could have a worn engine bearing or a weak oil pump.
The engine could have some sludge or dirt blocking a oil port.

Bad crank bearings. Have you had your oil pressure tested lately. Could be a rod bearing or wrist pin, but take it easy on your vehicle till you find out what\'s going on. Timing chain may have jumped and your motor is too retarded. Retarded timing will cause lower end to knock also.

SOURCE: Engine knock

The idle issue is normal. The idle is controlled by the ECU. There are no adjustments for the idle. Regarding the knocking noise, that could be several things, and I am hesitant to comment without hearing it. Take it to a Toyota Dealer & have a tech listen to it. We are very good at identifying noises on the service drive.

SOURCE: My engine knocks loud and Í dont know what to

If the knocking is a 'tinging' sound...valves are shot. The Paseo has an issue with the head getting warped and leaking oil through the gasket, if the oil has been low too often for lengths of time the head heats and warps.
Open the oil cap and feel around inside with your finger (ensure engine is off and cooled first) rub your fingers together to feel for grit which would most likely be valve shavings. This should be easy to find since it's recently had an oil change.
Worse case scenario would be a rod broken but that would be a LOUD knocking/bonking sound and definitely expensive.

2005 Nissan Altima knocking noise when engine starts.

By chance did you check your oil level. That would be ideal before your engine blows out. If that is fine, more in likely it maybe normal. Some GM vehicles do that also due to the cold weather. After sitting for a long period of time the oil will settle in the oil pan til you crank up. The knocking noise may last for 5-10 sec then it stops because the oil is lubricating the pistons again. But if it is constant and oil level is good, get a mechanic to check it out. Hope this helps.

Knocking under valve cover on cold starts

Is there any smoke when you first start it? what is happening is the valve seals are probably worn and letting the oil seep past them. when your engine is first started it has no oil or very little oil at the top of the engine, thus causing the knocking noise. could be more but this is a most likely answer. oh and is you haven't changed your oil every 3,000 miles you had beeter start doing it.... answer knocking sounds usually come from bottom of engine try a better quality and correct viscosity oil
