New breaks starting to sounds scrachy when they are applied

I replaced the braks in september of 2012...? I remember having an issue with the front passanger break pad rubbing, but i resolved that out by taking the caliper and bracket off and noticed the bracket the caliper screws too was off set alittle bit which cause the caliper and brake to tilt. Anyways the point is, everything was working fine till now. Im guessing i need knew rotors and calipers?

One word of advise. If your caliber bracket is hitting the rotor, or rubbing it. It may be a faulty or loose wheel bearing. Sometimes when the bearings are replaced in these cars they sometimes are pressed in a bit too far , and will cause the bracket to appear off set. Listen when turning corners for the rubbing to get louder or go away. I've replaced many Alero brakes, and 50% of the Aleros that come in have bad bearings. Brakes on these cars are known to wear very quickly as well. It's a heavy car and only standard braking. Then they decided to give them rear wheel disk brakes , but still very light for the weight of the car. Good luck Cheers from Nova Scotia

If the Caliper "ANCOR" is Keeping them (the Rotors) from Coming Off , They Must Come off Not Many Are like This MOst just require Caliper Off . If so it's a 18-19 mm Combo Wrench or 1/2 in Drive SOCKET . NOT Dificult at all.

Is it transmission problem when after applying break it will hardly go if not transmission what could it be


Sounds like there is an issue with the brake system. Either the brake caliper not releasing on one wheel, or the brake master cylinder is not allowing the brake fluid to return to the reservoir. Front wheel drive car, I assume. So, Jack the vehicle up so that the front (driving) wheels are off the ground, support car with jack stands. Start the car, place in gear and see if the wheels rotate, or which wheel rotates. Apply the brakes slowly, release the brakes, and see if there is one wheel that will not spin. If one wheel will not spin, it is that caliper that is not releasing. It could be the caliper or the brake hose collapsed internally. If neither wheel turns, then I would suspect the master cylinder is not allowing fluid to return to the reservoir. Remember, however, it could also be an issue with the anti-lock brake system. Anti-lock systems do not normally cause this problem though.

Why don't you contact Hyundai (Corporation) about it. It's all warranty covered so I hopev that you brought it back to the dealer. I'd tell them if htey can't fix it then they should get you another new vehicle. They can send it back to Hyundai and let them repair it - rebuild....

Its a constent hissing from my brakes in my Mazda 2001 tribute. The noise does stop When i press on the brakes but as soon as i let off them the hissing continues. Ive read it could be the brake booster. ...


It is the booster, but it might not be abnormal.

Vacuum from the engine is supplied to the booster, and vented if the brakes are not being applied.

When you step on the pedal, the movement of the pedal blocks the vents, allowing the vacuum to build up. That vacuum then pulls on a diaphragm, assisting you in applying the brakes.

Most people can’t hear that venting, some can.

You should, of course, have it checked out, but it sounds as if this might be normal operation.

The booster is bolted to the firewall, and then the brake master cylinder is bolted to the forward side of the booster.

To replace it you disconnect the brake pedal, remove the master cylinder, take the vacuum line off the booster, unbolt it from the firewall.

Install the new booster by reversing these steps.

But I don't think you need one, from what you say.

i'm not entirely sure on this but it sounds like the assist is not working, i think it works with the power steering , so check htat level, and the belts, i hope this helps

It sounds like the rear calipers are bad. Raise the rear wheels and see if you can turn the tires. If you can't, open the bleeder. If you still can't replace the caliper. If you can turn the wheel after you open the bleeder, replace the brake hose to that wheel.

Fuse and breaks


Go to your local parts store and buy a Haynes Manual for the car. The manual will give you the diagram for the fuse panel and also has step by step instructions on how to change the brakes front and rear. All cars have front and rear brakes. Hope this helps.
