Question about Dodge Cars & Trucks
I have this truck and from what the shop said it sounds like to them that the sencrynisers are the issue with the manual transmission shifting issue we are having I was wanting to know how hard it would be to change the transmission as well as converting it to a automatic transmission. And will the different types still fit with the motor that is in the truck. I am just trying to find the best way to keep this beast of a truck going and on the road it is a wonderful and perfect truck for me and my family for what we are needing it for.
A Ram 50 is made for Dodge by Mitsubishi.
A salvage yard should have the interchange books to tell you which years and models will work.
The fact it is a 4wd may limit your choices.

Sometimes if you got a transmission that don't match the computer that controls it, you get this kind of problem. For example if you got a differenty year model from the original.

Well, first do the service. Pull the pan down and look for metal shavings. If there is metal shavings your in for a transmission. If not, you may have a problem with one of the transmissions shift solenoids located near the valve body.
P.S. The Duramax has the Allison 1000 transmission not the dodge cummins and they are one of the best trannys on the market.
