SOURCE: 2002 Astro van ventilation fan problems.

The problem is a 1/8 diameter hose that runs from the front of the engine over the top and connects at the rear of engine on the drivers side. It is a vacuum hose #GM15967970 It cost about $6.22 at your GM dealer. Hope this helps Bill. My E-Mail is Uflyups@aol.com

SOURCE: chevy astro van turns over but wont start when

Check to see if the fuel pump is kicking in,
when you turn the key on without starting the van you should hear it kick on for about 2 seconds,

It could be...
A clogged fuel filter...
Blown fuse for the pump..or bad pump relay..
No gas
Bad fuel pump

SOURCE: chevy astro van heater blowes only cold air

the problem is probably the heater core, it can become clogged with dribris. this stops heat from the engine getting to it and then no heat.

SOURCE: 1992 CHEVROLET ASTRO van no heat?

Since your blower is working and it is a heat issue, thats where we'll start,First thing is have you checked the coolant level in the radiator when engine is cold, make sure it is filled to top, next verify you have coolant in reserve ,Start your van and get it up to normal operation temperature,If your heat gauge on the dash works correctly it should be 190 degrees,Now lift the hood and locate the two heater hoses going into the heater assembly at the fire wall,Both hoses should be hot to hold on to,if both are hot and no heat inside your problem will be the blend air door in heater assembly.
if neither hose is that hot you need to replace the thermostat in the engine to get it up to 195 degrees.
if one hose is hot and one is luke warm then the heater core is blocked and to blame. hope this helps you.

Check the timing again to make sure you didn't slip a tooth when you lined up the marks. Make sure #1 is at TDC and the rotor in the distributor is pointing at the #1 plug on the cap.

Heater Core in a 1998 Chevrolet Astro Van in quuestion... after replacing water pump, thermastat driving arround the block my van is still over heating there is also no heat comming out of ac what can i...

Start by double checking the coolant level. If this is good then, what I know of the way these things are made, purchase a chemical flush (from any auto parts store = $10 and add it to the system with the heat on high in the cabin. This will also help flush out any air bubbles. Drain and reill with good, clean coolant and distilled water (less minerals and contaminants which plug radiator cores). Do you notice the any fans coming on when the A/C is applied? If so... great! The very next to do is whilst the engine is running, wrap a rag around your hand, grab the fan in the front of the motor. Now don't worry, you will not get your fingers chopped off! Just make sure your rag doesn't get caught in any belt. If the fan stop right away and there is no felt resistance, IT IS FAULTY!! It must be replaced. Very and an inexpensive repair. This the responsible for engaging the fan blades the pull more air into the engine area via the radiator. Common fix. These do wear out!! Let me know if you need to change the fan clutch.

How many quarts of transmission fluid does my 1999 chevy astro van require?

1999 CHEVROLET TRUCKS ASTRO VAN 4.3L 6-cyl Engine Code [W]
CAPACITIES: Automatic Transmission, 4L60-E Initial Fill..........4.7 liters
Automatic Transmission, Total Fill 4 speed 4L60-E..........10.6 liters

To check fluid level, transmission should be hot and engine running at idle. Pull the transmission dip stick out "red" wipe clean and re-insert. Check level of transmission fluid as indicated on the dip stick using the second reading and make sure the Astro is parked on leveled ground. Add Dexron III or VI as needed and do not over fill.
Thank you for using Fixya and good luck

Air, no heat '98 Astro. No leaks, engine

It sounds to me that you may have 2 problems. 1). Air Lock in the Heater Core. 2). Inactive Heat Damper in the Plenum.

But since you state that the Heater Hoses do not get warm that is indicative of an Air Lock in the Heater Core. This is a relatively simple fix. It is best performed COLD but requires a method of pressurizing the Cooling System. All reputable Auto Parts stores Sell and/or Rent Pumps that temporarily replace the Radiator Pressure Cap for Leak tests and curing Air Lock. The Collant Level must be filled FULL then pressurized and then loosening the Highest Heater Hose at the Firewall so that Air and a Small Amount of Coolant escapes. Once all the Air has escaped tighten the Heater Hose Clamp, remove the Pressure Pump, Restore the Collant Level to FULL, re-install the Pressure Cap and Start the Engine. As it Warms up you should be able to feel coolant running through the Heater Hoses and they should become warm.

Our 2001 Chevrolet Astro Van heater not working?

Could be a bad heater core, any fluid leaking around it...check under the carpet and padding if you don't see anything under it on the ground. Your coolant may also be low, and it isn't circulating to the heater core, or a vacuum line may be off the hot/cold gate on the heater box, there are a lot of possible causes, but i would check for leaks and fluid level first
