The dealership can tell you where it is. Replacing a PCV valve is usually easy.

SOURCE: 1998 Ford Explorer sport 4.0L 4x2 PCV Valve Location

the pcv is located on the rear(firewall) of the drivers side valve cover.turn counterclockwise and pull to remove be careful there are 2 small tabs inside the pcv hole in the valve cover(can feel with small finger) this is to hold valve in place so it wont leak.if you have a oil leak at the pcv a quick fix is to put a small amount of silicone around the pcv o-ring and install.wait hours for silicone to set up.

SOURCE: PCV valve location

if i know what you are asking, look at where you put your oil in. on the valve cover to the top right should be a plug with a tubeing runs to your air clear tube where the air mass sensor and carb is located. i think that is what you are looking for.

the pcv valve is behind the alternator between the alternator and oil filter. when you remove the oil filter you can see the pcv in the intake manifold. best way to get to it is through the pass side fender under the rubber mud flap thats between the wheel and engine.

Oil in air box. How can i stop it with no pcv valve?

do you mean the car has no pcv valve from factory or you have removed it. if you removed it put it back in other wise this will be an on going problem. all cars have a pcv system to stop excess crankcase pressure causing problems. you don`t say the year make model or engine size. this would help.

Vacume leak

You should have your car scanned if it is throwing codes..( check engine light on )....1 of the more common places for a vaccum leak is at the PCV Valve...Check your hose to it and the boot that connects to your intake...While you have it apart clean ur valve with a rag....Another fine tip i learned was to take a propane torch, turn it on (but don't light it) and move it over the vacuum hoses and connections. The engine RPM's will increase if there is a leak and the propane gets sucked in....(with veh running).....

Is the pcv valve replaceable in the 2001 Sunfire 2.2L engine or is it built in to the valve cover

Yes the PCV can be replaced. It seals into a rubber grommet in the valve cover. See pitcure of valve below.

Engineer starts but dies if foot taken off gas

This may be as simple as a bad idle air control valve, this valve controls the idle but if the engine is running rough or if there was a engine light on then you may have other problems, but if the engine is running good and not rough then i would say its a bad idle air control valve, this valve is located on the throtlebody and easy to replace, heres a picture of it.johnjohn2_59.jpg

Were is the pcv valve on a 2005 ford freestar

pcv valve is located on the valve cover of the engine. you will see a line running close to the middle of the valve cover gently pull the line out of the valve cover, the pcv valve will be on the end of the line. take out the pcv shake it, if it rattles it is okay, if you don`t hear a rattle it needs to be replaced. Also I personally would change the pcv valve every 25,000 to 30,000 miles because they are usually inexpensive.

Check engine light, knocking? PCV Valve?

I have this same vehicle. The "check engine" light warns you that the input from a sensor is not valid. To locate the problem sensor you need to have the fault codes downloaded and interpreted. I am sure your PCV has little to do with this. The burning smell cold be oil from your transaxle seals being thrown up onto the exhaust pipes. The outback is a sophistecated and refined vehicle that requires sophisticated equipment to work on it. If you have engine "knocking" it is likely to be the knock sensor and if this is the case, you need to have it remedied very quickly

Check engine light on,idols rough, fine at all other speeds.

It either has a vacuum leak or a dirty MAF. To test for vac leaks spray the engine with carb cleaner to see if the engine speed changes., if it does you fond the leak. The most common leak is pcv line coming straight off the back of the throttle body. Check there first. Also check to make sure there are no air leaks between the throttle body and the mass air flow. Don't replace the idle speed motor or the tps, they won't fix it. It is possible the o2 is the problem, but it usually isn't. P0107 Is usually always from the stuff i listed above.

rough-idling engine can signal a number of positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve problems, such as a clogged valve or a plugged hose. But before beginning the functional checks, double check the PCV valve part number to make certain the correct valve is installed. If the correct valve is being used, continue by disconnecting the PCV valve from the valve cover, intake manifold, or hose. Start the engine and let it run at idle. If the PCV valve is not clogged, a hissing is heard as air passes through the valve. Place a finger over the end of the valve to check for vacuum.

With the engine at idle, vacuum should be felt at the PCV valve.
