SOURCE: low coolant light

In the surge tank, there is a sensor that detects the level of the coolant. It's most likely the sensor is stuck on the low position. All this sensor does is slide up and down as the coolant level goes up and down. You can tap the side of the surge tank near where the sensor plugs in and see if it will dislodge. You'll see the 2 wire plug at the bottom of the tank towards the front.

SOURCE: 'low coolant"

Inside the surge tank is a float that turns on the "low coolant" light. As the float gets gummed up it gets stuck in the low position. I've had good luck in cleaning the surge tank out really well and ungummed the float so it slides up and down like it should.

SOURCE: low coolant light

Have you had the water system pressure tested it is a very simple test but the tool is a little pricey for one off use, maybe go to a radiator service centre and ask them to do test.Radiator cap may no longer be able to hold its rated pressure. It would appear that you are only losing coolant while driving and not at idle.

2000 vw beetle 2.0 L, low level coolant light...engine mil code 1256

not the pump but air in the system or a broken wire to the coolant level sensor
that sensor at the top of the radiator tank has to be completely immersed in coolant or the circuit is broken and the light comes on
same effect id the wire to that sensor is broken in the insulation

2004 kia spectra has blowing air but know heat.

Heat and air conditioning are in separate systems. If you aren't getting heat, the first step is to check your coolant level. Low coolant can result in improper flow through the heater core. If you do have low coolant, be on the lookout for a coolant leak! If your coolant isn't low, then there is going to be an issue with circulation through the heater core. The heater core could be clogged in some way or another.1

Make sure your coolant level is full.
Does the temp guage stay just to the left of middle when idling??
I have a feeling your t-stat is sticking and at idle the motor isn't making enough heat to keep warm with the t-stat sticking open. you've got a coolant problem. I'm more inclined to believe its low coolant level rather than the thermostat - especially if the CEL light isn't on. If you don't find an obvious leak, pull the oil cap and look on the bottom of the cap. If you find a butterscotch colored sludge, you probably have a head gasket issue. A shop can pressure test the system and determine what is the most likely cause.

That means is low in coolant. If the coolant level ok , the problem is that u have a bad coolAnt level sensor which is located in the coolant reseivor

My 1998 vw bug temperature light came on red. I checked the coolent level and the tank was empty. I put water in it to get me home. Is water a bad idea? Now the temperature light comes on but now its...

vw beetles do not have a temp gauge so instead when the car is cold the light is blue at normal temp no light when over heating or low coolant red light and it beeps, you need the right coolant for your vw it is pink in color and some napas have it (Not DEX Cool) and you probably have a coolant leak, usually a plastic flang at rear of cylinder head goes bad

My 1998 chevy lumina won't start right away and

The cooling system shouldn't be losing much coolant.

If you're putting in coolant regularly
If you're seeing slick oil in the coolant
If you're hearing noise in the engine while driving

You may have a crack in your engine block and your engine isn't being lubricated properly anymore. This will cause noise and leaks, make a motor run really rough and cause rough starting.

I suggest you bring your vehicle in for a coolant system pressure test and a chassis leak check. This should be a free service from any auto shop that wants your money for repairs.

Spark plugs usually degrade your performance slowly and don't make noise while doing it unless in extreme cases.

Good luck!

Blue coolant light comes back on and flashes? why

The light should be for a low level sensor in your coolant reservoir. Check your coolant level (when vehicle is cold), if fluid level is ok then the sensor is probably the culprit.

VW Beetle bluet emperature light started flashing

Start with checking your coolant level( only use VW coolant if low). If full, change out your coolant temp sensor. Buy the one from the dealership. The others are ****.

From what i read, the flashing temp light means the coolant level is low. Check your coolant reservoir. See this webpage for more information:
