Most diesels use a preheater upon startup and it will cycle in and out until proper operating temps are achieved,,somewhere in the system is a relay thats arerently stuck on(contacts fused) and it heats all the time..replace this relay and the problem should be fixed..we had a cat engine in a box truck that had the same issue but the trucks system was a 75 amp load with the preheater on and it was hard to jump the truck with my little car at 4 in the mornig with no lights outside and 5 * temps...good luck..

This is proplem with the IAC valve , try clean the valve and if that doesnt work replace it.

An IAC (idle air control) motor is designed to adjust the engine idle RPM speed by opening and closing an air bypass passage inside the throttle body

SOURCE: How do you remove door panel off a freelander 51

Yes they're easy to fit but there is a point to watch to avoid instant failure of the cable.

proceed as follows (5 door).......

remove the screw from behind the interior door handle and remove the trim
carefully prise the door pull trim off and remove the screws from behind
05 models onwards, remove the window switch assembly by pulling the whole black trim upwards
remove the plug behind the springy cup holder thing and remove the screw inside
finally remove 4 screws from the lower part of the door trim
carefully prise the door trim from the door and try to avoid breaking any clips

To get the reg out.......

Carefully remove the water shedder, this is easier said than done and really it should be relaced, if you have a new one, just rip it off.

Now, the point to watch, before removal, look at how the cables cross over and the cable nearest the outer side of the door crosses over the inner one and is clipped to the inner door skin, it MUST be refitted this way to keep the cables away from the window otherwise the window will catch the cables when wound down and break them, this is a common mistake so take your time and look before removing.

Next, Wind the window down (if you can) and loosen the 2 bolts that hold the window to the regulator, pull the window up and tape it to stop it dropping. If you cant wind the window down, cut the cables.

Remove all the 10mm bolts that hold the reg in and wiggle the reg out of the door.

Twist the new reg so the cables cross as previously mentioned, make sure they cross the right way, the cable with the pad should be nearest the inner door skin with the one without the pad crossing it on the outside.
Fit the reg in the door and tighten all the bolts, clip the non padded cable to the clip on the inner door skin.
refit the window.
Now, check the operation and make double sure the window doesn't catch on the cables, once your happy, fit the shedder and the door trim.

As you said I believe you have a problem with the Exhaust manifold between gasket and engine block. I do not know your model but if you have a turbo engine probably the turbo either is leaking or broken.Having these problems, surely the vehicle become very thirsty on fuel and low power. Please do not use your hands to check any exhaust leak, you surely burn seriously your self. Ask your mechanic to do the correct job.

96 Mitsubishi Magna steaming, temperature gauge normal

Hello there, Sorry to report that you probably need to replace the water pump. You should also replace the temperature sensor to get your guage operational again.
As for the difficulty in removing the pump, you could grab a haynes or chiltons manual at your local parts store for around $20 bucks or possibly sign one out at your local library for free (call ahead as they may not have one at that branch, but could get it shipped in from another library branch) - these will alleviate a lot of hassels in a step by step remove/ replace.. and has a lot of detail for many other issues/ maintenance..Please provide feedback for yoru solution
Best regards

on the inlet manifold is a breather from the engine i think on this year so check for a split vacumn hose or a split breather pipe ,failing which it could be the thingy on the back end of the butterfly ,their is a sensor but iam pretty sure its a breather pipe or something stupid ,also pull the vac pipe out of the servo and just try pùtting a plug into pipe in case the servo diaphram has split

Engine continues to run after key taken out and blowing out white smoke

dont worry, the white smoke will be coming from a small 'exhaust' underneath the front bumper - passenger side. this is because your car has a 'fuel burning heater' (FBH) fitted which burns diesel through an auxilary heater to warm the inside of the car quicker.i had the same concerns when i bought my 2004 freelander, i was told that the FBH only comes into operation when the outside temp is less than 5degrees but mines comes on regardless of outside temp!

hope this helps

Check for bubbling in the reservoir tank. It is possible that there is a head gasket leak. Look for steam coming from the exhaust pipe? Steam coming out from reservoir cap vent!
