Question about 2003 Mini Cooper

1 Answer

My 02 Mini Cooper low beam passenger side headlight was intermitant and finally went out. Replaced the expensive bulb and it worked for two weeks before becoming intermitant again and now is not working again. Has Cooper had issuses with headlights and is there a known problem to fix?

Either the igniter or the ballast is bad.....or, you touched the bulb with your fingers and it burned out because of that.

Its not unusual to get a bad bulb out of the package. Could also be a bad connector. Try that and come back to us....

My low beam headlights went out and I replaced the bulb but they still do not work? What do I need to do to get them working again?

First make sure you check all your fuses to make sure they are good, secondly make sure you check the fuses under the hood area and inside the auto, then lastly make sure you check the light solenoids for your car I think there is one for each there in a box under the hood. After doing this I am pretty sure you are going to find your problem but if not make sure you contact me back and I will help you track down the beast. One of my turn signals wont work, both my headlights only work on highbeams

replace the high beam switch which causes this problem. Also clean the terminals for the directional light bulb. That will cause a negative continuity to the bulb

My passenger side low beam headlight is out. the driver side low beam headlight works fine. I replaced the bulb and the headlight still doesn't work. What should I look at next?

Check the fuse. There are seperate fuses for right and left. You dont mention if the high beam works for that side? If it does, the fuse is good. The GREEN wire at the bulb is the ground for the low beam. If that wire has power, then the ground is bad. If the high beam works, the hi'lo beam switch is good, and there is a problem between that headlight and the Engine Compartment Junction Block

'03 Mini Cooper Xenon Replacement

If it's oem xenon than it should be 2 lamps. Because they had only xenon on the low beam (d2r type), however begin with changing the high beam. That one is inexpensive, so you could check if there are no other problems (like wiring).
Just open your hood and it should be clear how to open the cover for your high beam.

Changed headlight bulb but still not working, in mini cooper 2003. tried two bulbs.

Keep in mind there are TWO seperate headlight bulbs for each side. One above the other. The first one you see is the highbeam. Look above it for the other rubber boot, its square. That houses the low beam bulb.

2004 Nissan Altima passenger side low beam

Hi,
Just a thought... If with the bulb not burning, you can verify that the voltage supply wire is "hot" and you know the bulb is good, you probably just have a grounding issue. If you can check the ground wire against the hot wire and get voltage, I'd suspect the problem is in the bulb socket or socket connection.
I bet you can figure it out... :o)
Hope this helps... I hate paying big bucks for dealership repairs too. Good luck!

I need to set up and adjust xenon headlights for a BMW Mini Cooper S from scratch. Need instruction manual and what Uk regulations have to be met i.e distance/height etc

The adjustment screws/nuts should be located either on the top of the headlamp assembly, behind the headlamp assembly, or near the frame rail by the radiator support.

You will have vertical adjustment screws for each independent beam (separate highs and separate lows, but will be same screw if highs and lows are the same bulb). You may also have additional horizontal adjustment screws as well

Park your car on a level ground 30 feet from a wall and measure the height from the ground to the bulb and mark on a wall (do this for highs beams and low beams if the bulbs are separate, if highs and lows are the same bulb, only do it for the lows)

For Low Beams: If the headlights read VOR, then aim the brightest part or cutoff part just below the mark on the wall. If it says VOL or nothing, aim them 2 inches below the mark on the wall.

For High Beams (if separate from low beams): Aim the headlight directly at the line you marked on the wall.
