Sounds like it might be a neutral safety switch issue? or a solenoid these are good places to start!

TEST POWER LEADS TO STARTER FOR POWER
AT STARTER (BATTERY POSITIVE TO STARTER BATTERY NEGATIVE TO ENGINE BLOCK)
THEN TEST FOR SIGNAL POWER TO SELENOIDE ON STARTER
(KEY TURNED TO START POWER SHOULD GO TO SELENOIDE)
IF NO POWER TO SIGNAL WIRE CHECK FUSES AND RELAYS
ON STARTER CIRCUIT
IF THIS CHECKS OUT MAY BE AUTO TRANSMISSION NUTRAL PARK SWITCH
TRY TO START IN NUTRAL OR WHILE SHIFTING TRUE GEARS SLOWLY WITH SHIFTER
IF STANDARED CHECK NUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH

My starter went out and when i replaced it it keeps hitting the fly wheel. a friend said he thinks the that ignition is not letting it disengage?

you need to shim the starter start with one shim if it still wont disengauge use next thicker one it should fix your starter. you can get shims at auto parts store. also when strarer is loose make sure you cant wiggle the flywheel it could be loose but unlikly (very rare)

Daewoo Leganza turns over but wont start, just getting a clicking sound from under the hood. Any clues to what this may be?

you need two people one at the key and one at the starter first check batery connectionsmake sure there clean .then check cableswiggle to see if there loose .than check battery do the head lights come on bright . not ok than repair batery conn cables or charge batery. if ok than follow the click to the starter hopefully, cilinder shaped item mounted to tranmission engine connection point.( while in park or nutral) they turn key to start position you tap on starter case .if it cranks over you need to replace starter.

I have a jaguar xj8 and the gear got stuck in park ,and I can't put it in reverse or drive. How can I fix this problem

Most likely the lock out switch at the brake pedal is at fault, because in order to put it in in to any gear you have to step on the brake first ! Their is a switch located which prevents you put it in gear with out stepping on the brake pedal, so check this switch first.
