Sounds like it would be the english equivalent to a service light. I would have a mechanic look at it and scan the ECU.

How do you put on alternator belt

Route the belt as shown below (from autozone.com) but leave it off of the alternator. Use an 18mm wrench or socket on the tensioner pulley and pull toward the front of the car. With the tensioner pulled down, slip the belt onto the alternator completing the diagram. Check routing to verify that belt is still riding on all pulleys.

Ford tdci 2.4 diesel engine as fitted to 1994 LTI TX2 taxi. Constantly replacing timing chain and tensioner. Five replacement chains and tensioners in 140,000 miles. Engine is serviced every 6000 miles....

cant help the only ford 2.4 engine diesel i know of is the york engine and that has a timing belt not a chain.Sounds like you could be a bit fastidious because all timing chains show wear on the tensioner, causing a bit of a rattle but unlike a belt it will not break just get a bit noisey, answer to that is to turn the radio up a bit

Inspection
Inspect the drive belt for signs of glazing or cracking. A glazed belt will be perfectly smooth from slippage, while a good belt will have a slight texture of fabric visible. Cracks will usually start at the inner edge of the belt and run outward. All worn or damaged drive belts should be replaced immediately.

Belt between water pump & alternator squealed and popped off - di

You could have the wrong size or the serpentine belt was routed wrong. Double check the routing and the length of the belt, the other thing to that is know to happen is the belt tension pulley has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Recap, check the routing of the belt, belt length, tension pulley for any damage. Good luck and hope this helps.
