Any place in internet , where I can find some figures / pitcures for help to get audio out ??

    and

your idea , what might be the problem of the radio and how can I ensure or check what is the problem ??

  • harri_tuomel Jan 24, 2009

    --------

I checked the AM/FM and the same problem in both sides . System does not start to find any channels. CD is the only one , which is working. Most probably also the casette player but I have not any casettes anymore

If the problem is the tuner itself, Is it possible to chance to radio or is it more economical to change whole audio packet ?

  • harri_tuomel Jan 25, 2009

Well Radio is working again !! BUT
I got a message to infromation screen :
"SRS Safety pillow. Service right away"

Anyway when I start the engine . The SRS light in dash switch off normally and this
should show that system is working !

WHAT WENT WRONG AND WHAT TO DO NEXT ??

    Shortly what I did

    1. I took the radio/audio out ( thanks for the hint to internet pages )
    2. I took out / and put in one cable to radio / audio ( only two thick , diam 4 mm cable in that )
    3. I put the radio / audio in again
    4. Radio did not work

( Thanks for your message that probably it is antenna failure )
    5. I took the fuse packet again open
I checked all the fuses 15- 19 once again when the power was on ( just to see where they really are connected : 15 : audio/RTI, 16: Audioequipments, 17: amplifier, audio 18: fog lights 19 : RTI - screen

One comment more : My service checked the radio earlier and they charged me and informed me : RAdio Tuner is broken , you should chage tha radio : THIS WAS ******** , do you agree ?

There were too helpfull hints .
First to internet pages to find a way to take radio out and then a good quess that it can be antenna. Reason was not the antenna either tuner but some connection problem in fuse packet . Fuses itselves were all right. Anyway radio is working now but text screen is telling me to get car to service for SRS-system. I don't know what is the reason for that but I guess it is some electricity circuit, which was switched off while coupling fuses for audio and RTI. SRS-system itself seem to work well without any alarm light in dash . Just normal way , so I will wait for the next yearly service time ( april-may ) untill I check that in Volvo - service. Thank you for the help ! Harri

Supplemental Restraint System is the Code that came up. This has to do with air bags and such for safety but I don't know what this has to do with the radio, unless their in the same circuit.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

It would seem that the unit is operational or at least is partially so, CD works. Might it be then that the problem is limited to the tuner, pls verify by switching to AM and/or if you can change stations even if with no sound. The sound might be muted since there is no signal coming in. If this holds true, then might it be just the antenna or connections to the antenna? Most radios have a power lead that raises or lowers a mechanical antenna or powers an internal amplified version.

Pls post back result. Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Offhand if the antenna checks good, repairs are possible. However you may have to reconsider your options based on the repair cost and the length of time needed for the repairs. The repair work would of course take time and during that period, the vehicle either would have to stay at the shop/garage or be used with the radio system missing.

Based on the above, the fastest/simplest (not necessarily the cheapest) would be to replace the entire system.

Appreciate the updates and glad that the unit is back operational.

In conclusion, it would appear that your car radio is also wired as the error display of your vehicle. While not uncommon, this further makes the radio an integral part of the electronics of the Volvo and not only for entertainment. SRS of course refers to the airbag system. I would venture that when you removed and re-0installed the fuses, connectors/wirings, you have inadvertently done a reset and the system has just rebooted.

As to what the dealer/service has concluded, perhaps that is why a second opinion/diagnosis is often important if not only to compare or validate.

    Cheers.

To remove the radio you need to remove the face of the dash. To do that you need to remove the screws under the dash and some on top under where the gages are. Just keep tract of the screws because some are longer than others. I would recommend that you have it done by a professional installer. Here in the US if you buy a stereo they will put it in for free for you.

Good Luck and Please Rate.

CD player has scuk CD

Sadly, that's a common problem.
You can pull the fuse to the radio and wait a few minutes, then plug it back in. It'll reset the radio and it MIGHT eject the CDs. If that doesn't work, you have to go to the dealership.
They can sometimes pull the CDs out, and sometimes not, and they have to ship the radio off.

The fuse should be #5 located in the box in front of your legs where the safety light is located.

Radio is on and I can see the numbers, but I can't hear it; however, I can hear the CD..

sounds like an antenna problem to me. It might have come loose from the radio. A car stereo shop or dealer could help on this one.

I Have a 2000 S500 Mercedes , My Radion and or CD Player goes completly out sometimes the screen even shuts off. Then turns itself on automatically then shuts back out . Im driving around with NO SOUND...

is it an after market radio? if so it might not have enough power so it goes to pull power when its turned up and its not there so it just shuts off. try checking your radio wires and your fuse.

Installing cd player in truck and nothing works on it

You probably blew a fuse in the back of the radio, or in the fuse box. Check both to be sure. And remember, always disconnect the battery before you do something with the wiring harness.

Radio LCD Lights Don't work - 2007 Ford Fusion

I was told by the Ford dealership that I had to replace the entire radio. This is also happening with my Ford Fusion (2007). I opted not to replace w/ the same radio because what if it happens again?? My lights came back after some time, but who knows how long they will last.

6-Disc CD Changer is not working

Unfortunately most times with these 6-disc systems once it quits working it is usually time for a new unit. The manufacturers all reccomend reprogramming the radio, but this rarely does anything other than waste your time and money. Go for the new radio.
