Question about 2002 Buick LeSabre

By-passing the a/c compressor with a shorter belt

Need to know the size of the serpentine belt to get for a 1991 buick regal with a 3.8 ltr. My a/c compressor pulley went out. Instead of buying a new compressor, i just want to by-pass it by using a smaller belt.

The best way to do this is first ask the parts house to see if this car came with out air and get a belt that way. I dont think that year had the option of not havnig A/C. The other way is take a piece of rope and put it around the pullys just like you are puttin on the belt but by pass the A/C you might have to make a few trips or get a few different size belts but its the only way

Can you bypass the a/c pulley putting on the serpentine belt on a 97 Buick regal 3800 supercharged

Contact your local NAPA auto parts store and ask if there is a by-pass pulley available for the AC on this model. If there is, you will be able to do it. If none available, you may have to replace the compressor

What size serpentine belt to bypass ac compressor?

as there are engine running that have no ac fitted there will be belts to fit your car. Go to an auto parts shop that has a good selection of belts and they will have a catalogue with your belt listed.

Bypass ac compressor with shorter serpentine belt 2001-02 Mercury Sable LS

Because in most cases the routing will not work without the pulley for the compressor being in use. That's why some engines have a dummy pulley available to use in place of the compressor.
Not using the compressor pulley can cause the belt to drive a pulley the wrong direction, or not have the grooved side of the belt on a pulley.

Compressor is shot can I by pass it with shorter belt

An A/C bypass pulley is an alternative to expensive air conditioning repairs. Most late model vehicles use a single belt to drive the water pump, alternator, power steering pump, and A/C compressor. When an A/C compressor fails and locks up, it will break the belt and leave you stranded. Until recently, the only solution was to spend hundreds of dollars to replace the compressor and repair the A/C system. Dorman make these. You can also buy a used compressor at apull-a-parts place for less than that.

How do you remove a serpentine belt from a 91 buick?

When looking at the front of the engine you will see one of the idler pulleys will have a 3/8 square hole in it,thats for a 3/8 breaker bar or ratchet to fit in to ..hook up the tool and move counter clockwise to rotate the tensioner so you can remove the belt... do the same when installing the new belt

Is it ok to drive 2004honda accord without the a/c compressor?

I am assuming that the a/c compressor was removed? Yes, you can drive any vehicle without the a/c compressor. If the engine has one serpentine belt, as long as you can do one of two things...able to purchase a shorter belt (most cases you can, as not all cars have a/c compressor) or replace the a/c compressor with what is known as a by-pass pulley. My 1996 Buick Regal a/c compressor locked up, so I installed the by-pass pulley. Basically, the answer to your question is yes.

How do I remove an alternator from a 1991 Buick Regal Gran Sport

Is it a serpentine belt? If so, there should be a small pulley, called a tensioner. Loosen that, and you should be able to remove & replace your belt.
