I had the same problem last year with my rx8, I smelt gas inside the cabin, and every time I parked in the garage it would smell strongly of gas. I tried injector cleaner and everything, but nothing helped. About 4 months after i started to notice the smell, one of my fuel injectors blew, I believe the small was coming from the crack in it, I would suggest you get you injectors checked, After the blow, I got it fixed, they rebuilt the injector for about $300 cad. and it runs great now,
Check for loose clamps on the fuel lines leading out of the fuel tank. Don't be afraid to stick your hands where you can't see. You might be able to find a leak. Or your fuel tank is releasing pressure from the gas cap.
P0141 & P0161 are oxygen sensor codes, P0442 is fuel evaporative leak. P0141 & P0161 I would replace the o2 sensors, P0442, make sure the gas cap is on tight, if it is, take it off and look at the rubber seal on the cap where it seals on the filler neck. Sometimes that seal get hard/brittle and cracks. This would allow a vacuum leak in the fuel evap system. If you find cracks in the fuel cap seal just install a new gas cap. Now any time you replace parts from having the check engine light on, doesn't automaticly turn the light off. You need a scan tool for that, however, I you fixed a problen by replacing parts, the next time the computer runs its "on board" diag test & that system passes, the light will turn off. You can alway go to you local parts wherehouse or Aamco & they will scan for free.
"when the fuel pump kicks....it makes a very short duration sound....you can hear it....but in seconds it will be gone......as gasoline has made its way to the engine.........
if you cant hear any noise from the fuel pump......it could be that the fuel pump realy is bad........if you happen to change the relay....and it still does not work.....then it is the fuel pump. that is fried.......
about the water.....i am not shure......unless there was water in the gasoline itself....or somebody put water in there in purpose....
