Question about 1999 GMC Suburban
My Suburban 1999, has a weird problem, every now and then, the ABS light on the dash comes on and that makes the fan of the a/c and defroster to stop working eventually it will make a strange "crack, crack" (electrical) noise and the light turns off and the fan starts working. When the fan knob is in "low" the abs light will turn on but when the knob is on "off" or 3 or five the abs light turns on and the "check 4wd" light will turn on too. As son as you move the knob to low or 4 position the ABS light remains on but the "check 4wd" turns off. Sometimes while I'm driving this "crack, crack" sound will come and everything goes to normal operation.
Hopefully someone can help because I've seen several electrical mechanics and have different ideas but they are not sure
If it is happening when you change the AC and Defroster Modes as Stated above, You have a Wire inside the Dash in this Location that has Shorted and is Grounding itselt to the Housing for the HVAC Controls. This could cause a fire. I would pull the HVAC Unit and try and Locate the Faulty wire Behind it.
