Suburban 1999 abs light on dash on and doesn't work the a/c fan
My Suburban 1999, has a weird problem, every now and then, the ABS light on the dash comes on and that makes the fan of the a/c and defroster to stop working eventually it will make a strange "crack, crack" (electrical) noise and the light turns off and the fan starts working. When the fan knob is in "low" the abs light will turn on but when the knob is on "off" or 3 or five the abs light turns on and the "check 4wd" light will turn on too. As son as you move the knob to low or 4 position the ABS light remains on but the "check 4wd" turns off. Sometimes while I'm driving this "crack, crack" sound will come and everything goes to normal operation. Hopefully someone can help because I've seen several electrical mechanics and have different ideas but they are not sure

Re: Suburban 1999 abs light on dash on and doesn't work...
If it is happening when you change the AC and Defroster Modes as Stated above, You have a Wire inside the Dash in this Location that has Shorted and is Grounding itselt to the Housing for the HVAC Controls. This could cause a fire. I would pull the HVAC Unit and try and Locate the Faulty wire Behind it.

This is how to fix intermittent ABS and Brake dash lights on all Chevrolet ... That board is rather robust and is installed external to the vehicle in a location that sits .... I took the module out of a2002 Sierra and it is engineered with no T10 .... ABS Sensor and Harness 2000-06 Chevy Suburban Tahoe GMC ...
try bleeding your ABS block first, if that doesn not work could need a master or proportioning vavle. Some scan tools are capable of bleeding the ABS system on some vehicles, and some you have to bleed manually.
abs light is on= get your brakes abs system fixed abs light is on but then goes off....good! abs light doesn't come on at startup. = Check the lamp in the dash hasn't blown, have the car checked professionally as your abs might not work at all.
if your abs light is on it can be a few things, first your sensors may be bad but highly unlikely. You could have a wheel bearing going out causing the sensor to read improperly, due to the excessive metal on the magnet end.
Was the ABS module changed at a GM dealer?
The SIR module (air bag) does no recognize the new ABS module, that is what is causing the flashing lamp.
The dealer will be able to reset the SIR module.
Let me know.
