You have a short, there was a recall to install a relay on the starter to prevent this, also check and make sure the ignition switch is not damaged

I need a wire diagram of a starter for a 1989 Isuzu pickup 2.3 engine from under the truck.

If it worked a few times, the wiring is probably correct. Your symptom indicates a low battery or bad connection. Clean and tighten battery terminals as well as where the cables connect to the engine and starter. Try jump starting. If it jump starts, check the voltage at the battety with the truck running. Voltage should be at least 14vdc. If not, remove the alternator and have it tested at your local parts store.

Put new solinode and starter on LT 160 and starter stayed engaged after starting whst did ivdo wrlng? csn the 2 wires on solinode be reversed?

Is this a lawn mover?
I tired to look at your starter motor, it appeared to show only one terminal. Should not be hot with key in the run position. The starter driver gear isn't hung-up?
So there is a separate solenoid/relay? Did you wire it back the same way? It would have to receive signal from ignition switch crank position. I don't have a wiring diagram for this.

Threewarning lights stay on when i try to start my van abs, anti skid andtraction control then my van wont turn over.its not a battery fault because my lights still work.any ideas ?

Anti-theft system ! Do you have a security light on as well ? What make , model an year vehicle ? Do you know if your vehicle has a starter relay ? Park neutral switch . Do you know how to do automotive electrical testing ? Find a wiring diagram for the starting system on your vehicle ,see what is all involved . You can find a wiring diagram here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html free wiring diagrams ! The starter relay is energized by the PCM/ECM engine computer ,this sends B+ voltage to the S terminal on the starter solenoid ! If you find the starter relay an pull it out of it's socket an look on the bottom of the relay , you should see four numbers . 30,87 , 85,86 . Go on youtube an watch video on relays , how they work an how to test . There is a good 1 from scanner Danner on GM fuel pump relay how to test , I know it's not the starter circuit , that's ok it works the same way . VEHICLE RELAYS Operation Diagnosis

My car start but won't stay running.

If you replaced the starter & the car starts the starter is good. The reason when it will not stay crank could be multiple things. It could be your fuel pump, dirty fuel filter, bad plugs or wires, etc... See if you are getting fuel to your carburetor or check your fuel pressure. I'm leaning towards the fuel pump . I hope this maybe some help to you.

Wire 253 holden boat motor starter alternator coil basic diagram

batter positive to one big terminal of the starter solenoid--large wire as in a car ( the other big terminal will have a wire from it going into the starter)
a wire from the start point of the ignition switch to the small terminal of the start solenoid .( This to energize the starter solenoid to start the engine.) a large wire ( 30 amp capacity ) from the positive terminal of the battery going to the BAT terminal of the alternator the plug in the back of the alternator will go to the battery light or ammeter.. wires from the start and run positions of the ignition switch to the coil. One to provide power when the starter is engaged and the other from the run position to provide power to keep the engine running
basic but it will work

Wiring diagram for alternator

Starter needs to run from battery; alternator should not provide power to the starter, as its only intention is to start the motor.

Blowing fuseable links from starter to alt, (well one) the gage is smaller then the OEM, however would a bad starter cause this fuseable link to fail, as the altenater is brand new

If this link runs from the alternator to the starter then i would say it likely but i belive the connection is to recarge the battery, the link that runs from the alt to starter connects to starter with another cable that runs to battery, so this link is used to charge the battery, heres a wiring diagram to show you. i would say its morelikely that the problem may be a bad alternator or the wiring from alt to starter is shorting. follow the wire (fuseable link) from alternator to starter and check it for shorting onto something, if nothing found then iwould say its the alternator or starter. to make sure which is the problem, when the link pops can you start the car, will starter spin over the engine if the answer is yes then replace the starter but if the starter doesnt spin engine with blown link then replace the starter, here are the wiring diagram to help.johnjohn2_148.gifjohnjohn2_149.gif
