Good moring, Mr Ken Hane,I believe what you have posted, but want which of the cylinder would give out first and most the master cly or the slave cyl

  • ken hane Jan 16, 2013

the slave, which operates your clutch, but hydraulic fluid is moisture loving, gets contaminated, lets air into the entire system,a major maintenance problem people ignor is not changing the hydralic fluid, if the fluid goes in clear, and ends up dark, then it must be unfit for duty. seals are affected, and so on.... you change your motor oil don't you, well then there ya go.a trans mission shop can look @ your truck and tell ya exactly whats going on ,free, thats what I'd do

  • slick Jan 17, 2013

ok, I\'ll try what you post and see what happens, one other thing there has been no tranny work since I got it 15 years ago,so question do you think its time for a clutch job and maybe both cylinder change, your help is greatly appereicated sir

  • ken hane Jan 17, 2013

you should be able to remove the bottom bell housing to view condition of clutch , if you know what to look for. again,a trans shop can do that for you, act like you know what your doing, , study up on how to determine a bad clutch, or one needing replaced. knowledge is power, if not satisfied with a mechanics opinion, get a second opinion, its free, do it. same with your hydralic cylinders, .study and learn , use common sence, make decisions lead don't follow. good luck.

You may want to try adjusting the clutch. I think Dodge have adjustment options. it seems that the throw out bearing is too close to the clutch and does not "throw out' as it should.

My 98 dodge ram won't go in to 4x4 where can I

i would start with the transfer case . check fluid level and also check your shift linkage to transfer case. also could have worn chain and gears. Is there any grinding noise when you try to shift into four wheel drive ?

I have 1998 five ram 1500 with 360 (5.9L) engine 4x4. Had replace transmission. Test drove pulled in my driveway it died won't start back. All gauges quit an has codes 920, 921, an 999. Won't...

Could be a wiring problem.
The first two codes are for problems with the shift position sensor, and the code 999 is for a problem with one of the pressure sensor circuits.
You may need a shop manual to troubleshoot the circuits.
