replace the radiator fan switch,,renew your thermostat if needed,maybe your lower radiator is still running cold ,/poss,air lock in system,,

You don't say what happens after the temp starts to rise--does the car overheat and lose coolant? How far do you drive before the fan goes on? Based on the info you gave, I would suspect the thermostat is bad (stuck closed). You can test it by removing and dropping it into a pan of boiling water. It should open within a few seconds.

However, headlight adjustment must conform to the relevant road ordinances and laws of the place of vehicle registration. For your own peace of mind and to comply with legal requirements I suggest that you take the vehicle to a registered center and have the lights set to the standards set by law.

Yes, if you are running over- the- road just stop in a State that has vehicle inspections and they can set the lights to their specs. In those States that have an inspection setting the headlight aim is part of the job.

Next method, park your unit about 20 feet from a garage door or the side of a building or carwash. Use some tape or pencil and make 2 crosses. The passenger side is allowed to be high and slightly to the right. A correctly aimed right headlight will focus on the curb or lane marker with the right headlight spot-on the lane marker. This will mean you will be safely within your lane on the right side of your truck as long as the headlight hits the lane marker.

For the left light it is suppose to be almost straight ahead and not tipped out to oncoming traffic. In some States the left light is turned slightly towards the center of your truck. You can check against the crosses you put on the surface of the building and watch the beams move as you adjust the lights. Use some chalk to mark where the tires were so you can get into the same spot.

I had to do some Vehicle Inspections in Texas years ago. I want to say the headlights were suppose to be 42" high at 20 feet, but you have a Peterbuilt. And now some of the cars are barely 48" high.

check the coolant temp unit that allows the air to the clutch to kick in

SS w/3.8l engine. What would cause the first electric fan not run but when temp rises the second fan will come on?


The coolant fan should kick on when temp reaches 192 degrees. Have you changed your thermostat? The 2nd fan is for the a/c. If car is running hot, it's probably thermostat or cooling fan

Why doesn't my electric fan kick on and it makes water boil


The rad fan is turned on by the computer when the temp reaches a certain heat degree. The computer gets information from the coolant temp sensor in the engine to tell it when to ground the relay. You may have a blown fuse/bad fan/bad relay/power supply to relay/or PCM problem causing the fan to not operate

As the engine reaches optimum operation temp then the fan will be activated.

My car temp gauge showed over heating at highway speed. Then upper rad hose blew. Pulled over and had car towed home. I have a Matco tools code reader. Computer doesn't show any codes. Why would that...


Using your tatco code reader, select current data (real-time data) and select engine coolant temp sensor (ECT). Run engine to operating temperature (A/C off). Monitor the temp reading - when the temp reaches approx 204 deg farenheit, the fans should kick on, after the temp drops to approx 198 deg farenheit, the fans should turn off. The fans are controled by the ECM (Engine Control Module). The ECM controls the cooling fan relays.
