On older pathfinders it's on the passenger side under the exhaust manifold, above the starter. It's easier to grab it from up top when your engine is cool.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Take a look at Nissan Technical Service Bulletin NTB05-15b. Title = "Rattle Noise From Vias Power Valve Actuator / Intake Manifold Collector" This appears to describe your problem exactly. I have the same problem with my 2005 Xterra and I am going to try the recommended fix myself at home.

Your not serious are you?
Have you looked under the front of the engine at all.
Remove the small access plate or complete shield and unscrew the filter.
If you research the internet you can get a longer filter. The stock one is a Wix 51356 I think and a longer one is a 51358. Check the Wix web site
