Question about 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada

3 Answers

Hi, This morning I tried to start my 2001 Lexus es300-nothing, no cranking. A few of the dash lights flashed on briefly. I left the car alone for a couple of hours, went out and tried to figure it out. The lights were brighter and when I put the car into neutral, all of the dash lights came on. I put the car back into park and it started immediately. I let the car run for 45 minutes, turned it off and it instantly restarted. I did this several times. About 3 hours later, I tried to start the car and found out I was back to square one. Now I'm unable to put the car into neutral. I checked the battery cables and found that one was obviously corroded. The battery is only 4 months old, but the cables were not changed. I am a car repair imbecile and I'm afraid that this will show if I take it into a shop. Can anyone please help me try to figure this out? Thanks, I'd love to solve this and impress my husband!

Ok this should work, I think that you disconnected the battery terminals when you clean the corrosion correct? If you did then TOYOTA/LEXUS will tend to blow the BATTERY MAIN FUSE. Its located in main fuse box in the hood Its A big Black fuse check the view screen on the top of fuse and see if it broken/damaged this should be your problem. Replace and vehicle should start. Good Luck and contact if you need more help. Thanks for using FIX YA

First of all get some baking soda and water and clean off the battery cables and then the next thing when was the last time the drive belt was changed and depending on the miles if over 100,000 or more have the alternator tested

Get a can of Coca Cola. Remove the Battery cables and Pour the Coke on them. This will eat the Corrosion away. Any coke Left? Drink it! BONUS! You might need to get a Screw Driver and Scour the Surface of the Cables to ensure a Good connection with the Battery. Check the Inside of the Battery Mounting holes if it is a Side Post. If it is a Top Post Battery, Just reinstall the Cables. You now need to check the Belt Tension. If it is the Smallest bit loose it will need to be Tightened. I think though that you Problem is the Battery Cables. Let me know if you need any Further Help!

2003 lexus es300 won't start... radio lights and windows work. Tried a jump start, still doesnt work...

Are you saying the engine cranks but won't start, or the engine won't crank ?
If the engine does not crank, you would check for voltage at the starter, the neutral safety switch, and the key switch as well as the ground connections.

My 1999 Lexus ES300 wouldn't start this morning. There's no sound when trying to turn over...no clicking are anything. When I listen under the hood there's a slight click in the alternator

Hi Susie, Turn on the head lights and get someone to observe them while trying to start. If they dim during trying to start, replace the battery. Regards John

I have a 2001 Lexus ES300 that has been fixed way too many times. The lights Check Engine and Trac Off are now on and I am out of patience. It has approx. 110000 miles and runs otherwise great. Can't...

Hi. If you find an answer to your problem with the trac off/engine light comming on way too often, please tell me so I can get my wifes 2001 es300 fixed. The dealer claims to have replaced the computer and numerous sensors on it's many trips back to the car lot. Once, it was kept for two months with the same problem comming back after 72 hours of regular use. I found, if you disconnect the battery for app. 20 seconds, then rehook it the lights on the dash go off for about 3 days. Help!!!

When I start my 2003 ES300 smoke comes out the exhaust

The same thing happened to my 2003 ES300 - the smoke is coming from the oil seeping into the motor's cylinders. This is the classic "Oil Gelling" problem in Toyota and Lexus vehicles. There is a factory recall on it, but it only covers to 2002 ES300 not 2003. The Lexus dealer confirmed my "oil gel" problem and went to bat for me with Lexus - they got the repair approved - Thank you Mr Local Lexus Dealer! The cost was nearly $4,000 - paid for by Lexus.
