Key won't come out of ingnition...

Just bought a 1999 volvo v70xc. I know that there has been many problems with these vehicles, but I need a car and it was a good deal.

Key wont release from the ignition when the car is off. It is in park. Abs and service light is on. At this point the vehicle starts and drives so Im not sure what I should do.

I had the same problem and found that if I made sure the button on the shift lever is out all the way the key would come out. Mine was sticking and had to be pulled out, the spring had become weak on the shift knob.

Sound like 2 issues. Ignition key maybe that the cable to the shifter is out of adjustment. If the cable is out of adjustment/broken the key will not come out. ABS is probably a module. Volvo has lots of issues with this. The ABS/Tracs control module has solder joints that go bad in the control module 99% of the time it is the issue. Have the module repaired/replaced. 35 years working Volvo's professionally

Jiggle the steering wheel while trying to remove the key.

Some cars, you have to push in and turn to a full off position before you can remove the key.

The ABS and CEL are different problems from the key thing. It could be linkage from the tranny shift (if it's console mounted) needs adjustment. Try jiggling the tranny shift as well, while trying to remove.

You will need to get your car scanned to see why the ABS and CEL are on. I suspect the ABS is due to a module problem, and they can be rebuilt cheaper, and with a longer warranty, than buying new.

I cannot get the key to completely turn off in the ignition of my 2002 V70XC Volvo. How can I fix this?

Is the vehicle in park ? Your vehicle like all vehicles have safety systems that won't allow the vehicle key to be turn off and locked if the vehicle is in gear and running . How ever this systems can malfunction . There is a lock out soleniod in the column or the console if floor shifter . The first place to start would be to have it checked for DTC's - diagnostic trouble codes . These codes can cut diagnostic time down a bunch . Or there could be a problem the ignition lock cylinder ! If no codes are present taking the steering wheel off to get out the lock cylinder and replacing it . You may be better of taking it to a repair shop .

I have the same problem with my 2000 v70 glt a not only does the break, abs, and check engine lights come on and the speedometer and odometer don't work but the arrow starts flashing and the vehicle seems...

The most common problem is with the ABS control unit. You will most likely have to replace it. It is located under the brake hydraulic unit (not the master cylinder). This part can be purchaced from a Volvo dealer, or sent to one of the many places that repair them. If you choose to fix it yourself, and would like the name of one of the companys that repair them, let me know.

Need a radio antitheft code for a 1999 volvo v70xc

The code should be written in your user manual, if not, you will have to contact a Volvo Dealer. This option is placed in vehicle radios to deter theft and render the radio useless if stolen. Thanks for using FixYa.

Hi I want to know where is located the vehicle speed sensor. for a volvo v70xc 1999

If you will remove the engine air filter box, the speed sensor should be located directly on top of the transmission and is easily removable.
