Question about 1998 Dodge Ram
Hi! Having trouble with my truck dieing when i pull into a parking space or into my driveway. Sometimes after takes a few times to get it going again, i have to keep the rpm's up. If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it THANKS!!!
I forget the name, but it sounds like you need some kind of ignition module replaced. I had the same problem with an older Dakota and it would die at a red light after a highway trip or under similar circumstances. There is some part in the ignition system that will fix that. I would get some FREE advice fom the Dodge service or parts department if you don't have a mechanic you are comfortable using. A good parts guy can give you the name and price over the phone. Another remote possibility would be an old timing chain getting loose but that would be an extreme case. I had that replaced as well and restored some of the "pep" in my engine. Less likely but overlooked items are all of the basics... Old spark plugs, full radiator, oil & filter, air filter, water in the gas (cold climate?), etc. It sounds like the ignition part to me though. Good luck!
