Ford 2003 Windstar Interior Floor Lights Stay On

My 2003 Ford Windstar rear interior floor lights are staying on. After a couple of hours so they will time out or something and go off. The interior lights dimmer switch should allow me to shut off all interior lights if I turn it all the way down and that won't turn them off either. Although it does turn off the two floor lights by the front seats. All doors are closed properly and the door ajar light is not on. Thanks for any insight or guidance.

To repair this problem you must remove floor lights from seats and check the circuit for either a short or a stuck switch use a multi tester this can get to be irritating as the short may be not directly behind switch could be along wiring that runs through car my suggestion if your not electrically proficient is take it to an electromechanic shop or simply unplug the light from socket to avoid draining the battery.

Why do the interior lights stay on when doors are closed and engin is off in 2003 ford windstar

one of the door switches is stuck. you can try and free up, however you need to find which one it is. try and spray pblaster, or rust renetrant into the top of the latches, and dont forget the hatch door as they usually stick the most. someone with a good scanner can tell which door switch is staying on, or the dealer can for a fee........jim

Interior lights

The lights are programmed to shut off when you shift to drive or reverse. The other problem may be a defective door latch mounted door ajar/courtesy light switch. Each door has one and the dealer can read them with a special scanner called an NGS

there is a dimmer switch to dim the dash lights. when you turn it all the way over it turns the interior lights on it is the same switch as your headlights.

Interior lights stay on after doors closed.

Had same problem with my 98 windstar. I checked all the doors to see which door it was and found it was the sliding door. I try w40 did not work i guess sensors were to worn. The only solution was to take sensor from the door and cross the black wires. It works no more light on.

it is problem with any door lock or door (switch if switch is there), if it is not going off after you make it off manual with help of lamp switch, then problem with lamp.

Ignition switch

YOU PROBABLY HAVE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS, WHICH ARE ON A TIMER OR OPTICAL SENSOR. AS FAR AS THE INTERIOR LIGHT, CHECK THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH, WHICH EITHER ROTATES OR PULLS OUT, DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU HAVE. ALSO, CHECK THE BULB FOR THE INSIDE LIGHT. THEY DO GO BAD AFTER A WHILE.
