You probably have a sensor going bad and the trans is protecting itself by going into limp mode. Check the fluid level while trans is warm and car is parked with engine running.

I can only assume it is accessible from the inside. Most cars you reach in behind the light, and turn the bulb socket a 1/4 turn counter clock wise, and pull the socket out.
