Question about 2009 Dodge Avenger
When i put my car in drive or reverse there is no sign of the car attempting to move. I dont think it is a new transmission because if it was a blown transmission would either work in one or the other. Any ideas? hope it will be something small!
No a car in drive has 5 or more gears allowing the vehicle to accelerate past the one reverse gear. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: cant get shift out of park
It sounds much like failed linkage which is better than about anything else you checked.
I recommend procuring a Haynes or Chilton manual for your car. It will not only help you locate the source of your current misery but serve you well in the future too. They are available at about any auto parts store for ~$20 US

SOURCE: yellow engine light(IDK)?
the yellow light is the check engine light, the best thing you can do is find someone who has a hand held code reader and let him come to your house. it will pull the code on the engine and tell you exactly whats wrong.

Whoever told you that you need a new transmission was correct!! I had to have mine replaced last September. Unless you have a friend that's a mechanic it's going to cost you at least $2000.00 if not $2500.00. Hopefully you have some mechanic friends. GOOD LUCK

auto trans operates on fluid pressure. if the trans has never been serviced, more than likely the filter is plugged, and or the fluid is bad. no doubht its burned and will smell and look like it. get it towed to a shop and have the fliud and filter changed first, then check the band adjustment.recommend a trans shop do it and not jiffylube.
