SOURCE: Tire Vibration

I had the same problem. Vibrations start around 40mph, up through 60 . seems to be ok when I am off the accelerator. The problem was not dirty ETM rather a busted passenger side cv boot and axle. Fixed it and the problem is gone. The part from Volvo its expensive. Over $500. But OEM part can be had for less than $200. I have a 2003 s60 T5.

SOURCE: 1995 volvo 850 glt station wagon's brakes make car shake when wet

That's good News! it means your A.B.S. system is working correctly, I know what you mean as it frightened me the first time in my 960, made a gruff gruff grinding noise and pulsing through the footbrake pedal, I drive a B.M.W. touring and in the recent snow I was pleased to feel a similar thing.
Hope this takes out your worries!
As for the smell, have your brakes examined for wear.

SOURCE: 1996 Volvo 850 shakes when started and when idling

being 1996 I would had replace the vehicle with the used parts saving her 600-700 bucks especially fans and radiator. Is there a reason why she has to replace radiator and the fans, did it ran hot for while, if it did the chances are you can warp the cyclinder head and it can cause poor compression and run rough when it idling, at high speed its hard to tell. can also have clog fuel injectors, run 93 octane and add a can of fuel injector cleaners into the gas tank run it til empty, see if that help. check plugs, cap, rotor and wires.

Steering shakes at 55 and above speed but smooth when driving under 55

Have tires rotated and balanced. Sounds like balance issue. Wheels will sometimes throw the balancing weights off.

My 1989 Chevey Celebrity started shaking the other day the front part of the car, not like the front end is messed up but it shakes.

Could be a wheel, tire, or axle shaft.
You could rotate the tires front to back and see if the vibration moves.
If it does the problem is one of the tires or wheels.
If it stays in the front, its probably one of the axle shafts. It could also be a hub bearing or something loose in the suspension. But a loose suspension part would normally show up when you hit a bump rather than on a smooth road.

Steering Wheel Shaking at 50-60 MPH

I doubt these problems have anything to do with each other. The shaking steering wheel could be an out of balance or bad tire(torn belt),a bent wheel,or improperly tightened lug nuts(not torqued evenly). The check engine light will require a code scanner to see what the code is.(if you work on your own cars, you might want to buy at least an entry-level code reader/clearer,some are under 50 bucks).

At 40 mph the car starts to shake. It last to 5o

I have this same car with exactly the same problem. Begins shaking at 40mph and stops shaking as soon as you let off the gas, but then begins again as soon as you press on the gas and smooths out as you get over 50. And the shaking is not felt through the steering wheel. Solution: Replace the transmission mounts. There are two of them, one on each side mounted on the frame right next to the shock strut. There is also a front and rear engine mount, but I replaced the two as described and shaking is gone.
