Yes, key only needs to be on, for code reader to check codes. Don't condemn the computer till you have checked all other possibilities-some checking of the fuel pump circuit should be done. A tech would need to consult the wiring diagram for your Bravada.

Well in not getting any spark from coil is y I think it may be computer. It just died while driving

  • montehammons Jan 15, 2013

It could be that, then. Or a sensor has failed. A bad crank position sensor will cause no spark, for instance. Check the codes first. For diagnosing, you would need a good wiring diagram and a digital volt ohm meter. Good luck.

Have you checked the fuel pump relay and the fuse? Yes, the OBD 2 system can check for and have codes pulled with the switch set to "on" while vehicle is not started. Need a scanner though to check it.

Why would I not be getting any spark from my coil. That's y I think it may be the computer, I checked the ignition module too its ok

Check the codes a smontehammons suggested. It will let you know if anything is out of spec or failed most likely. Could be anything from bad wiring (short) to the computer.

SOURCE: engine wont turn over with key, not getting enough gas to run.

Have the key and ignition checked! I am assuming that the key has a security chip on it, Right? If so, re-program key at dealership, and if that alone doesn't work, have them check both the key and column.

SOURCE: 96 bravada replaced fuel still no start runs with starter fluid

If your getting gas and spark get an obd 2 scan tool and check your mass air flow sensor. I had the same problem. If your having a problem with this vehicle always check the computer first; it will save you tons of headaches later.

SOURCE: i have a 2001 Bravada.

Replace the fuel filter. If that does not help, the have a fuel pressure test run on the fuel system. You may end up finding out that the fuel pump is weak and indeed needs replacing.

Are you one of those people who TOP OFF the tank when filling up?

When the EVAP recovery system soak with few ounce of gasoline......the trap vapor will take few days escape.

EVAP system is design to handle fuel vapor. Few ounce of gasoline can damage the fuel vapor recovery relay and decrease the service live of the recovery lines.

You can accelerate the process by locating the charcoal canister (near the nose of the car and same side as your gas filler door)

MOVE the car to outdoor.

Disconnect the EVAP line and let it air out by itself.

DO NOT introduce any heat source or fan to speed up the process.

Reconnect this EVAP hose and use a small amount of starting fluid at the intake manifold.

Please post more information by Clicking on the comment link.

I will follow up.

Replaced fuel pump now fuel gauge isn't working

sending units get knocked out of calibration when they change the pump.(carelessly).if you can.. check the top of the tank, to see if they plugged it in firmly. if not, raise heck till the change it. (doubt they will). other than the wires, not much you can do, without dropping the tank.

Fuel Pump 2000 Bravada changed but still not working... help!!!!!!

You check the relay?Make a tool out of the relay take the relay apart collapse make full contact and stick it back in,key does the fuel pump come on?If yes keep it like this for 15 minutes if the vehicle stall, the problem is not the fuel pump, The ECM must see a RPM of 250 or more in order to turn the fuel pump on. If it doesnt see a RPM of a 250 it doesnt even know its running.Okay back to the tool you made,This only trouble shoot the fuel pump system

The only manufacturer that uses a fuel cut off switch or inertia switch is Ford. Your jeeps fuel pump power supply is ultimately controlled by the cars computer. If you suspect there is a fuel pressure issue the first step would be to actually check fuel pressure with a fuel assure gauge. Or listen to see if you can hear the fuel pump run for a couple of seconds when you turn the key to the run position. If there is no fuel pressure or you can not hear the fuel pump run than the next step is to check for power to the fuel pump. You should be able to find the fuel pump harness back by the fuel tank. There will be a connector where the fuel pump harness plugs into the vehicle harness. You'll want to check for power to the pump by back probing the wires at that connector. There should be power for a couple of seconds when the key is turned on and any time the engine is cranking. If there is power the fuel pump is bad. If there is no power let me know and I'll be happy to help you with some further diagnosis.

It does sound like a weak fuel pump but you should check fuel pressure before you condem it. You should see readings in the mid 50s to 60 psi key on engine off. The check engine light may be a separate issue. You'll need to find out what code/s are stored in the PCM. A parts store like Autozone can help you with this.

1994 olds bravada trys to turn over but wont start

First check the spark up at the engine. Also turn the key to the on position with out turning it over and listen and see if the fuel pump primes. You should hear it hum. Thats where I would start anyway. If you don't hear it prime, then the fuel pump is out. If it is running and you are getting spark, then you may have to hook up a fuel pressure gauge to it and make sure you are getting enough pressure.

ok... Wait we have to settle some things here. You can get the vehicle started by pouring fuel down the throttle body, if so then it is most definatley a fuel pump problem. I usually try to bang on the tank with a rubber malle while cranking the engine. if it starts then its the pump, the simplest way to check is to see if your getting power at the fuel pump assembly. If you are then you need to change the pump the power wire is the grey one on the tank.
