Overheating so how do i change a thermastat

1. Open your radiator , 2 Locate the pitcock vavle, should be in the lower left corner of radiator aft side, place a drain pan under it open it up let it drain out about a gallon close the pitcock valve, 3 Fallow upper radiator hose to the engine it attaches to a housing that has 2 bolts and possibly a heater core hose running to it you will need to disconnect the upper radiator hose from the housing and the heater core hose if applicable, pay attention to the way the thermostat is facing you do not want to install this upside down they are usually marked "this end toward radiator" new thermostat should come with a gasket make sure all gasket surfaces are clean and free of debris, you may have to remove more than what i have stated and if you arte gonna be maintaning this vehicle yourself i strongly suggest getting a haynes or chiltons repair manual I am a mechanic and i dont work without one

How to properly drain engine coolant

Get a large drain pan ready and remove the radiator cap when the engine is cold. On the bottom of the radiator there is a pitcock which is usually plastic that is screwed in the drain hole. Slowly remove it until coolant comes out. Once you remove it completely coolant will come out quickly. Once it is drained remove the lower radiator hose to drain what is left. This will drain 85% to 90% of the coolant.*** Please rate me on this answer.***

Where is the radiator drain on a 2001 chevy s -10 ?

It should be on the bottom tank of the radiator. The pitcock is usually dirty white in color and will come out by twisting counterclockwise. I suggest loosening the plug in small increments so that you can control the coolant flow as it drains and avoid making a mess.

How to drain the radiator on 2002 Dodge Intrepid 2.7 liter

Warning first...always work on radiator when temperature is low to reduce chance of extreme burn. That being said,
Look on the bottom of the radiator for a "pitcock" valve. It will look like a big wingnut. Turn it counterclockwise to open the valve and the radiator will drain.
If for some strange reason there is no valve on the bottom of the radiator, disconnect the lower radiator hose to drain.

Replce bottom radiator hose

First, find the pitcock, turn it and drain antifreeze completely. Than turn screws loose on clamp and twist of hose on each end.
Put on new hose and fill up with new 50/50 coolant. Fill it with to top of radiator, start car with cap off, make sure to burp hose while pouring in new coolant.

Where is the drain valve on 2002 dodge caravan radiator?

its a pitcock facing the cab bottom of the radiator, plastic flat. once you find the pitcock just put a bucket underneath and turn it.then refill. if you want to flush(run fluid thru to clean it out) the radiator id suggest taking it in. you dont have to flush it every time you change the coolant out.
