SOURCE: Blowing lots of blue smoke,

A head is probably blown which means you have to do one of three things: get your engine rebuilt,(which I would not prefer because they may open your engine up and tell you it can not be rebuilt which means you still have to pay for labor) get another used engine, or get a new engine.

SOURCE: smoke is coming from the dipstick, 6.5L turbo diesel

Sounds like you have a clogged PCV valve thats the valve that lets the gases that get into the crankcase be rerouted back into the intake. It's silver about two inches and is usually in a rubber fitting in the valve cover and will have a hose on the other end. it's no tools installation just pull the hose off pull it out and replace with a new one. thats the first thing i'd do - 10 mins and 10 bucks should do it

How do i fix en excessive idling

older post.

first off no engine stated. so I WILL TELL YOU WRONG!!!
so ill answer in EFI generic form. (pure EFI facts)
engine idle races too fast. HOT ! no cold.
guess #1, you meant hot, engine., (cold racing is normal)
lots of causes.
but here they all are, i can in fact find all causes. in 1hr or less, hands on (i have the magic hands) and EFI sa v v y !

engine never gets hot , never reaches 180F + and holds, vacuum leaks on MAP based engines all race, so.... vacuum...MAF based engines do not race, they run too slow with vacuum leaks. (unless 2 problems, way too rich and leaks of vacuum)ISC valve stuck open (electric idle controller)IAC valve (thermal valve stuck open hot, it must close hot or the engine screams. hot. or the coolant path is BLOCKED to it...spark timing way too advanced. 5min job. to check. not scanning the PCM is the top failure here, why own any car with OBD2 and not have or rent a scan tool.. ? why work totally blind ? scan it and report ALL DTC errors, now.... and this the 3.2L V6? (single or twin cam?)

here are all engines in the class car (not all offered in USA)
2.3 L 4ZD1 I4
2.4 L C24SE I4 (GM, Aus)
2.4 L C24NE I4 (Euro)
2.6 L 4ZE1 I4
3.1 L LG6 V6 (GM)
3.2 L 6VD1/6VD1W V6 (Both single and twin cams options)
2.5 L 4JA1 diesel I4 (Cameo, TH)
2.8 L 4JB1-T turbo diesel I4
3.0 L 4JH1-T turbo diesel I4
3.1 L 4JG2 turbo diesel I4

i open the hood and see what?? and engine.
the EPA hood sticker tells you the size.
and the wide valve cover , twin cams.

in most cases, its too much air.
after all it can't race if air supply is low.
one other cause is previous owner hack jobs
hacking .
he screws the throttle body screw that must never be touched, ever.
adding way too much air. that does.

The EFI adds fuel to air (math calcs on the fly)
and cant be blamed for that.

Jeep no power

which engine option? that be first huh?
sounds like you need a hands one , eyes on mechanic, no?
low engine power, randomly?
gear box, which one? The A/T or the transfer case> 4wd?
is that lost engine power tranny slip or engine power loss
a hands on guy can tell that, in 1min flat. (why not do that)
the Engine light dont lie, it means there was a failure. why not
scan it> and not work blind.
from where? tail pipe end? or somewhere else????
white steam smoke (goes away fast and stinks of antifreeze coolant (sweet)
white burned oil. smells like burned oil and take for ever to disapate.
or black smoke, cause by way over RICH FUELING.

when power loss happens does engine RPM race way too fast.

all this a mech can determine 5min, hands on.
on the internet, may be 50 posts>?

I changed the turbo now white smoke coming out of my exhaust

This seems to be a symptom of a blown head gasket.
White exhaust smoke is an indication of water / coolant in the exhaust. The car running sluggish and using lots of fuel can be caused by compression loss.

Look at the coolant level color and smell (with cold engine - don't open the high pressure reservoir with engine hot as hot coolant may spray you in the face). If you have a blown gasket, the coolant color may become brownish and it may smell bad or the level will get lower even if you have just refilled the cooling system.

What you can also check for is bubbles in the reservoir. With engine cold, remove the reservoir cap. Start the engine. Try to rev the engine (or have someone do it) and observe if there are bubbles in the reservoir tank. If you see lots of bubbles, you have a blown gasket.

My 04 VW Jetta blew thick white smoke from tailpipe after freeway drive. No indicator lights came on, all oil leaked out (after smoke started)... is this engine or could it be just the turbos? Right...

A new turbo charger is about $340, but you can buy the bearings and seals and rebuilt if yourself for about $100
It is not hard, and it does not take long to do.

I normally do not bother with synthetic, but with a turbo charger, it might be worth it. What really seems to ruin turbo chargers the most is not letting them cool off before parking.
Once you turn off the engine, there is no longer any cooling, so the build up heat will burn up the oil and seals.
Run the engine for at least 5 minutes below turbo levels, before shutting down the engine.

Nissan 300zx starts smoking when reaches tempture

sounds like your rings are leaking oil into the cylinder.. causes blue smoke. would not do it until it is warm due to the higher viscosity of the oil at cold. try some ring seal and see if that reduces it.

When the supra is started for the first time lots and lots of white smoke comes out the exhaust for the first minute it drives me mad

Hi, sounds like you need to replace your valve seals or if yours is the turbo the sealing rings in the turbo are worn.
What happens is that oil over night or when the engine is stopped runs into the intake of the engine in small amounts then when the engine is started the oil is burnt hence white smoke.
Check each spark plug in each cyclinder to see is one of them or all of them charred with black burnt oil deposits.
In one plug has more than the rest you can be rest asured it is the valve seals.
If it is the turbo version it has to be the turbo sealing rings.
Best to replace the turbo in this case as it is only a mater of time before it goes. this as we always say is the warning light on it telling us that its days are numbered.
