Many people are having trouble with the saturn ion's not starting in cold weather. From everything I have read, it seems this happens with 2003 through 2006 IONS. The car shuts down and the key gets stuck and Saturn refuses to do anything about it. I have a 2005 saturn. Mine just did this for the 4th time. I am looking for a lawyer to do a class action on this and also looking for people to include in the class. If you are interested in joining the class please email me at email@example.com

the car won`t start in cold weather even when plugged in alternator was changed 4 months ago just changed battery thinking it was the battery but seems like something is draining the battery overnight? Maybe its a bad connection??Plz help!!!
You have to replace your ignition switch/starter. Its a common problem with ions yet no recall. Just google it and you will get tons of threads. Its a costly repair too around 400 dollars :-(. I have had to replace mine twice in 3 years
Is it cold when this is happening? If so it is your ignition switch. Common problem with ions yet no recall. Just have to get it replaced and its costly too, around 400$. I have had mine replaced twice in 3 years and with a new one i have still had some times it wont start on VERY cold days
LOL repeating questions. Its your ignition switch. its a common problem with ions ( I myself have a 04 ion and had it replaced twice in 3 years) repair is around 400 dollars with labor. Just google "ion not starting in cold weather" and youll get TONS of threads. No recall either its stupid
saturn has a TSB#04-08-45-005D the ignition switches go bad usually when its cold outside and they dont let the car start, common ion issue,,you need a new ignition switch,,not the lock cylinder the switch its a little electric box on the end of the cylinder housing you need to replace that and reprogram the new one to the car, switch is like $40
Google Saturn Ignition Lock and you'll see that this is a major problem with these cars. I bought a 2003 Ion in May 2008 and have had it in the shop 3 times for starting problems. I just had the entire ignition lock system replaced last month and so far it's been okay. Saturn will acknowledge that this is a problem, but there is no recall or true fix for it.
