Question about 1993 Saturn SC1

Class Action for Saturn IONS

Many people are having trouble with the saturn ion's not starting in cold weather. From everything I have read, it seems this happens with 2003 through 2006 IONS. The car shuts down and the key gets stuck and Saturn refuses to do anything about it. I have a 2005 saturn. Mine just did this for the 4th time. I am looking for a lawyer to do a class action on this and also looking for people to include in the class. If you are interested in joining the class please email me at

We have a 2003 Ion. For the past few months the ignition key has been getting stuck in the switch. Sometimes we get lucky and it comes out with out any problem. But most of the time (probably 90%) it will not come out and after turning it back and forth and starting and shifting and yelling at it -usually about 10 to 15 minutes- it finally does release. Put me on the list of the law suite. Bill Finger, Elm mott, Tx.

the problem is with the ign. switch. the internal grease freezes and the contacts inside the switch open causing a no crank issue. if the key is also getting stuck you have a battery voltage issue.

2004 Saturn ION wont start when it get cold? help, suggestions, please!

You have to replace your ignition switch/starter. Its a common problem with ions yet no recall. Just google it and you will get tons of threads. Its a costly repair too around 400 dollars :-(. I have had to replace mine twice in 3 years

2005 Saturn ion . ignition problem?

Your ignition switch needs to be replaced and then your PassLock needs to be re-learned. Very common problem on the Ions.

2003 ion starting after running

Google Saturn Ignition Lock and you'll see that this is a major problem with these cars. I bought a 2003 Ion in May 2008 and have had it in the shop 3 times for starting problems. I just had the entire ignition lock system replaced last month and so far it's been okay. Saturn will acknowledge that this is a problem, but there is no recall or true fix for it.
