Engine management light GWM constantly on or flashing

The engine light comes on in the cab and stays on, when petrol pedal is used it starts flashing and the looses power untill light is stable again. Then process starts over. Taking it back to the dealer tomorrow but thought i would see if i could get an idea of what the problem would be. They will be connecting it to the diagnostic machine, but are trying to tell me that it needs a service.

Could be simple as spark plugs then next is ignition coils then check injector. Lots other things it could be but basics first. A service with new plugs and possibly filters is a good place to start.

Hi there i have a gwm 2007 sailor single cab 2.2 petrol

Start with a couple of home diagnostic tests. Check the compression on each cylinder, cold. Look at the plugs, are they all the same colour? Note which came from which cylinder, if 2 side by side are black, oily, check compression. Remove all plugs, fit pressure gauge keep HT leads away from harm, hold throttle open, crank until pressure tops out.(5 secs max) Check all. Pressure test coolant system, cold. If you aren't sure how to carry these out safely, get help. If any cylinder is more than 5psi from another look deeper with a trained mech. You don't say the mileage but check valve clearances as per the manual because they could be too tight when hot. All this and you haven't spent a bean!

What does a flashing heater plug light in a ford ranger mean?

Flashing heater plug light is a second engine management light. Most aftermarket code readers won't pick it up. It's normally something like a faulty brake light switch or accelator pedal

GWM engine management light on and flashing

You don't give the make model and year, but yes the first step would be to have the computer scanned for trouble codes.
When the warning light is on and starts flashing it means the problem is serious and can cause damage to the engine or emission components.

The change oil light came on. on my friends 2002 monte carlo ss so i gave it an oil change and a new filter . the light won't go off.

The "Oil Change Reminder Light" has to be reset.

To reset the oil change reminder light with the accelerator pedal, turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Do not start engine. After turning the ignition ON, depress the accelerator pedal fully to the floor and let it up again 3 times within 5 seconds. The oil change reminder light should flash a few times to let you know that it is resetting. If it does not flash, turn the switch OFF and repeat the procedure. After it flashes, turn the ignition switch OFF. Then start the engine. The light should come on for a bulb check then go out and stay out.

Engine light stays on, then engine light flashes while running crappy. If I touch the gas pedal just right engine runs fine and light stops flashing(but stays on). 1996 cavalier 2.4L OHV.

Most local parts stores like Autozone or Advance auto will check the trouble codes for free and help you get the parts you need to fix whatever is causing the engine light to come on.

Check engine light on 1998 Z3 BMW

BMW engine light

Comes on if DME engine management system self diagnostic fault detected. Will stay on until codes are called up and memory erased.

With OBD read the code as follows. Turn on ignition key, press accelerator pedal to the floor five times within 5 seconds. The check engine light will remain on for 5 sec , blik off, come on for 2,5 sec, go off for 2,5 sec and fault code will begin to flash. If more than one fault exist 2nd fault code will be separated by 2,5 sec pause. after fault codes there will be a 0.5 sec flash and light will remain off. to read codes again do procedure again.

Canceling of codes. make sure fault code is present (short blink and light goes out for long period), depress throttle pedal for at least 10 sec. read fault codes again and check for code 1444 (no faults stored.)

Check also the following, fuel pump, oxygen sensor, fuel injectors, engine coolant temp sensor, idle speed control valve, mass airflow sensor and too many other things.

2001 Jeep GrCh. starts, let go of gas, it stops. Battery not to

Besides the obvious: checking your alternator/charging system. If the check engine light is not on, or it comes on, and after awhile it comes off, then a couple of hours or days later it comes on again it might the crankshaft sensor. It happened to me, and it was a pain in the neck to diagnose as the check engine light had turned off and the computer wouldn't read any codes to diagnose the problem. My mechanic was trained by Mopar/Jeep, so he immediately knew what was happening.

If it is a dead or shorted battery, when the RPM's are up the vehicle will run, and you might notice a loss on power. Once the engine goes to idle and the RPM's come down the engine will die, as there is not sufficient electrical power generated by the alternator to supply the engine. A bad alternator will cause battery problems.
