Question about Cars & Trucks

Open Question

Chevy Cobalt 2007 ss coupe...I drove through a pretty deep puddle in high rains last week and the check engine light and Service Traction/Traction Light Off came on automatically. I have driven it over 200 miles, hoping it was just something wet that needed to dry out. The check engine light is still on and diagnostic codes P0043, P0054 and 0102 are reading.

Might I add I just bought this car from original owner...it has been kept in top notch service from a personal friend I know. There were no problems until I went through water and afraid I have gotten fuses/sensors wet? I know nothing about cars. The codes Autozone read are: P0053, P0054, P0030, P0036, P0102 & P0043. Again..the CEL and Traction Off came on IMMEDIATELY AFTER I drove through a deep puddle of water during heavy rains last week.

Still no feedback on my issue after several days. I am afraid to unplug the battery just yet, until I can hopefully find some input on why the Check Engine Light and Traction Off remains. The codes reading by Autozone awre P0053, 0054, 0030, 0036, 0102 & 0043. The car has driven perfect, one owner...lights came on immediately after I went through a deep puddle of water in heavy rains.

SOURCE: 2005 chevy cobalt check engine light

You need to get the computer scanned. This can be done at Auto Zone or similar parts stores free of charge. More than likely you will just need new spark plugs and/or plug wires but I cannot be certain without the engine code.
Hope this helps, remember to rate this answer.

there are a couple of things, first make sure there are not restriction in the exhaust, i know the dealer has had to replace converters under warranty because of this problem, then theres a reflesh program for the computer due to this problem, and lastly, run with egr off make sure it clean of carbon, carbon gets stuck in pintle sets check eng lightbut carbon then blows by so when you remove egr you see nothing, well start with these good luck.

SOURCE: I HAVE A 2007 CHEVY COBALT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

I had this problem with a 2007 Chevy Cobalt. I changed the coolant sensor and even though the check engine light went out I still had a reading of "---" on the coolant gauge. The problem is most likely one of three things: a low coolant level, a bad coolant sensor, or the thermostat needs to be replaced. The only other possible thing it could be is a bad BCM (Body Control Module) which in that case you would most likely be having other weird problems.

The Thermostat and the sensor are both very easy to get to and replace. Take off the engine cover by removing the oil cap and they are both to the rear of the engine on the driver's side. They are right next to each other.

Hope this helps!

Light comes on service tracttion, then says traction off.

traction control should stay on and it should be a button on the dash somewhere (not sure where, my cobalt doesnt have one) but if it got shut off at some point its probibly just telling you its off becuase other than racing theres no reason to shut Traction Control off.

2007 chevy cobalt ss need help

Sounds like you are not getting the full throw of the slave cylinder. If you do not disengage the clutch completely it will shift hard, and sometimes you have to double clutch like you would an old truck. Have whoever put in your clutch bleed the clutch system again.

Hope this helps.
