SOURCE: car wont start in the rain/cold weather changed

Check for fuel delivery problem by spraying starting fluid into the intake and observing whether it starts for a few seconds or not. If it does start, and dies, then the fuel pump may be at fault. If it doesn't start at all, check for spark with a spark tester off of one of the spark plug wires.

SOURCE: won't start in cold weather

Are you saying the starter doesn't spin the engine over? The click it comes from the engine? If so then you have a defective starter solenoid, the design of the starter used in this truck is Japanese, the problem comes from the heavy electrical contact in the starter solenoid get burned away, when it is cold the large metal contacts shrink and make no connection, heat it up and the contacts expand just enough to make the connection and supply battery power to the starter motor itself. Replace the starter and the problem will go away if the answer was yes to my 1st two questions. If you want to replace just the solenoid parts then you can get them most likely from HERE

Could my battery be frozen? Do I need a new battery?

Your battery is not frozen. In cold weather, a weak battery--one that needs to be replaced--may not work. The cold makes an already weak battery even weaker.

I went to start my 200 ford windstar van and it just clicks. Lights come on but wont turn ove. Is the battery bad or what? WE also have had very cold bad weather could this make the battery go bad?

It sounds like the solenoid that activates the starter is activating, but there isn't enough juice to turn the motor. You say the lights come on, but test it by putting on the interior light, then put on the headlights, if the interior light dims or goes out the battery is almost certainly dead. It might be that you left something on and the battery drained, but sadly, poor batteries will fail completely in cold weather and that's end of life. First step is a jump start from a neighbour. If that starts it, run the vehicle around for half an hour and see if that has recharged the battery. When you come to turn it off to test it, PARK ON A GOOD HILL! Then if the battery is still dead, you can use the hill to roll down and bump start the vehicle (IF ITS A MANUAL OF COURSE). If the jump start fails, If the lights remain on and bright when you test, then you have a starter fault (Probably the starter motor its self). Expect it to be the battery. What you describe is a 90% probability that it is the battery

I have a 51 plate ford fiesta that has not started since the cold weather we have had. It makes a clicking noise on ignition and the dashboard lights up but the car will not start. do you know what is...

I would try and jump start the car -- it sounds like the battery might be bad or low on voltage ( due to the cold or age ). if jumping the car works - make sure you test to make sure the alternator is charging properly.
plus this also could be a bad soleniod or starter motor --- but try the jump start first or a new battery.

Car wont start but lights go on

More information would be nice. Does it crank with the starter or do you just a clicking noise or no noise at all? Automatic transmission, is it in park, did you try it in neutral too? Did you try jump starting it from another vehicle? It takes a lot more power from the battery the make the engine crank over, especially in cold weather, than it does to make the lights come on. Good Luck!

Car wont start in cold weather...think it may be

Will it start with a boost? Have you had battery fully charged and load tested? Battery tested at a garage, or autoparts stores, are usually free.

When i turn the key the lights come on but the car wont start why is that? i tried to get a boost and while the boost is occuring car lights come on but car still wont start and when the boost is off car...

sounds like you have a bad starter. If you can see the starter have someone bang on it while you turn the key. it might start. if it does you still need to replace the starter. Make sure the cables going to the starter are clean and tight.
