They do require a special tool to remove the two lines. This tool can be purchased from NAPA, O'Reilly's, Carquest, or one of the other major parts stores.

How to replace heate core 99 dakota

Grab a Chilton's or Haynes repair manual for your truck... it's cheap, and your truck is at the ripe age where more projects may be close enough that it will pay for itself quickly enough. Your store may even let you open up the manual (usually shrinkwrapped at my store) and thumb through to see if the project is something you feel you can handle easily enough. From a quick google search, your heater core looks to be behind the dashboard on the passenger side. It doesn't look like you should have to pull the dashboard off, but rather just dig in a bit from underneath. You should be able to get an idea exactly where by following to water hoses (about an inch and a half or so thick) that come from the engine and head directly into the cab on the passenger side of the engine compartment. Anyway, grab the manual and a new core and have the job done in an afternoon. As a side note, check the inside of a couple water hoses on the engine (you'll get a good look at the two heater hoses when you change the core, but also check at least one of the major water hoses that plug into the radiator). If they look rotten or aged too much (you be the judge) then consider changing all of these as well. If you do change the hoses and the heater core, it's a good idea to suspect the radiator... a radiator shop will be able to look at it and give you a prognosis, maybe even for free. Good luck!

Where is the water pump for a 97 dakota with the 4 cyl. engine? and can i replace it myself?

Follow the bottom radiator hose. It hooks from the radiator to the waterpump. They are not real hard to change.

I have an antifreeze leak at the piece of hose connected to the radiator cap (2005 Dodge Dakota.) What is the piece called and do you have a picture? I think its called a goose neck?.

it is just the overflow hose, you can replace it with regular vacume hose that diameter, but you should replace the radiator cap,its letting off pressure.the hose connects to your overflow bottle

How to replace a radiator drain plug on 2001 dodge dakota

with the use of a special socket that fits over the drain plug You can remove it from the bottom of the vehicle... obviously you will need to drain the radiator fluid first with the use of a drain pan to catch the fluid. Install is the reverse procedure

go to an autozone store, or similar auto parts store and they will show you exactly where it is and have a replacement you can purchase.

If you want to look yourself:
Check the hose from the radiator on the passenger side of the engine. It is in the housing where it meets the engine. facing the engine,it is on the lower part of the block, passenger side.

please mark this as a fixya! thanks.
