Question about 2003 Ford F250 Super Duty Crew Cab

1 Answer

I have a ford f250 superduty 2003 diesel. It started to run rough when ideling. also slow reponse when you take off. I have just changed the oil, air filter, both fuel filters, and drained fuel for possible water. I have #1 fuel in it right now. I live in North Dakota. I started the truck up and I have the same problem. What could be wrong?

Sounds like an ECU issue.  check your fuses, see if you can get an error code from a scanner, they have one at most checker auto stores that you can use for free.  Could be a Intake Air Temp sensor or a Throttle Position Sensor.  Thats what I would start with.  Good luck.

You probably have an air leak in the fuel line. Air bubbles rise to the top-most area of the tubing and form a "vapor lock" . Find the leak, stop the problem! IT's probably a loose connection somewhere.

It is a Ford. Replace the fuel pump and check the fuel lines for leaks including any filters.

Injectors are going bad. Might try fuel additives and changing engine oil to see if they might get better.

I have an 1996 f250 powerstroke and it is running rough.

The most common problem is a bad fuel injector but if you haven't already done so--check to make sure your oil level is all the way up to full.Power Strokes use a high pressure oil pump to operate their injectors and if your oil is at a low level it can cause air pockets in the lines going to the injectors. It's not a real common problem but I 've seen it happen maybe 10 times.Another cause is using the wrong kind of oil. Some oils have a tendency to foam at high pressures and can produce air in those same injector supply lines. Good luck!
