Question about Toyota Sequoia
I first stuck the key in the ignition and when it would not move i tried rotating the wheel from side to side while turning the key but no luck! i don't want to make a potential problem worse. Please help.... i am mechanically challenged

The steering locks don't necessarily engage when the key is removed, I always turn the wheel before exiting to engage it. There are several positions that will allow the pin to lock in but if between these, it may seem that it isn't locked.

Your ignition lock probably has sticky pin inside of tumbler.
Try spraying some WD40 or PB Blast into the key cylinder.
