Question about 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 Truck

1 Answer

There is water leaking out of the truck underneath when the engine is not running, but doesn't leak when the engine is running. Could this be the water pump?

Nope! Realy Straight Forward Repair. Remove the Fan Shroud to make it Easier. You also should have a Belt Routing Sticker Under the Hood for Remounting that Belt, If not, It should be in the Owners Manual

03 Pontiac Grand Am leaking oil and water coolant problem

Heather, What you could do if you want to save $$$ Is take your car up to a car wash and leave car running on the way stop and pick up a can of spray degreaser. While at car wash 1st leave car running and then spray underneath the engine to locate the oil leak. Once located just rinse it down real good. Then make arrangements for oil leak repair. The A/C leak in hot weather should be just condensate water! Normal. Thank you Heather. I know long winded but I tried. Let us know? I am new so feedback would be great.

I have aan intermitint antifreeze leak from under my car. their is no hose leaking and the radiator is not leaking

I don't know what you are driving..but sometimes the leak that you see under the car starts in the front area and runs to the lowest point and drops off...try getting under the car or up on a lift..follow the tale tale signs of the water/antifreeze running olong the underneath of your car...my bet it your water pump is starting to go bad..they have a small weep hole at the bottom of its shaft..if the seal/bearing is wearing water will start to leak and run along the underside of the motor..good luck..

Coolant leak from underneath

if you have a coolant or antifreeze mixed with the water, you should see a trace of the coolant on the motor, where it is leaking. check water hose clamps and water pump. if the water pump is leaking slowly, it has failed and will break within time. any coolant leak will cause your car engine to overheat.

3.2 liter engine 1996 Iszuzu Rodeo water pump leaks underneath

  • If your water pump is leaking from below then it's leaking through the weep hole. Time to replace the water pump. Should be up front behind the fan clutch.

I had refilled coolant yesterday. Today, coolant is empty and engine gets very smokey.

Always check your hoses for leaks. Check also if your radiator has water while engine is shut off. Add water to your radiator and add the coolant in the reservoir if its empty. Start it and observe your engine while running and check the hoses if anything is leaking. Check underneath of the car if something is dripping. Observe your temp gauge if it rises. If you don't find anything leaking, you could check your radiator only after you let the engine cool down. If the water is drained inside the radiator, then the radiator could be busted. If you have a perfectly fine radiator and the hoses do not leak, then it could be the water pump that's defective. If you are unsure about the problem then have it checked in your local dealership or your friendly neighborhood mechanic.

Wont hold water. big hose on the bottom of the radiator attaches 2 the engine and it leaks right out of the engine underneath that hose...

Well, if that Radiator hose is not leaking, then the Water pump seals have gone bad. More than likely you need a new water pump.

Vehicles w/ Timing Belt Driven Water Pumps Should Always Have The Water Pump Replaced When The Timing Belt Is Replaced.

If you do not, then the Timing Belt will fail, turning a low cost repair into thousands because of valve train damages. . .

For the Timing Belt & Water Pump KIT - its around $258 through NAPA

What is the cause of lots of coolant leaking underneath front of truck?

Does it leak while running or whlie stopped/off? If it leaks while it's running the water pump has most likely gone bad.... in the absence of an obvious leak in the radiator itself.

Water leaks from bottom of engine

If it is antifreeze, then dry off the area as much as possible...then run the engine and look underneathe while it's running to see where it is coming from....could be a loose radiator hose to the water pump, the water pump itself or leaking manifold.
