Question about 2006 Kia Sedona

Hello, I have a 2006 Kia Sedona mini van. I'm wanting to replace my front brake pads & front rotors. There's two bolts going the brake calipers from the back side. I'm trying remove them, but they just seem to turn & turn,but t they don't seem to wan't to come out. Afraid to proceed. I'm I doing the right thing?

Hello, yes your doing the right thing. The bolts go through the caliper bushings and you have to pull the bolts out while unscrewing. If this doesn't work let me know. Good luck.

You sure are! If you will get a Screw Driver and Poke them from the Front they will go ahead and come out. They are Seated in there with Rubber boots and can be Hard to Remove Sometimes.

How do i change cvc axle on 2003 kia sedona driver slde van


Jack up vehicle and secure it on a jack stand. Remove the tire,brake caliper,pads and rotor. Remove the large spindle nut on the end of the axle and push the axle through the bearing. Then remove the bolts from the strut where it attaches to the steering knuckle. Pull the axle out of the bearing and the using a pry bar, pop the axle out of the transmission. Install in reverse order of procedure.

How can I change the rotors and brakes on a 2006 Cadillac?


Front brake
Step 1: Identify Front Disc Brake Components

Front Wheel Drive Brake Assembly
Most front disc brake components include: brake rotor, brake pads, brake caliper, caliper mount and brake flex hose. Brake service usual occurs between 20,000 and 40,000 miles depending on driver habits, road conditions and brake pad/ rotor materials used.
Step 2: Remove Brake Caliper to Replace Pads

Removing Brake Caliper Mounting Bolts
Locate primary caliper mounting bolts; apply wrench pressure counter-clockwise (When looking at the head of the bolt) to remove the bolts, upper and lower. Make sure the bolt threads are in good shape and replace if necessary.
Step 3: Remove Front Brake Caliper

After removing the primary caliper mounting bolts lift the brake caliper off of the rotor and then tie or secure to the side, being careful not to bend or kink the brake caliper flex hose. Thoroughly inspect brake caliper and brake hoses for leakage, cracks or chaffing and replace as needed. Next remove the brake pads (If not mounted in the caliper) and secondary caliper mounting bolts. Notice how great protective gloves work, most technicians use them on the job today.
Step 4: Remove Brake Pads

Once the brake pads have been removed, make sure if there is anti rattle hardware to transfer to the new brake pads. Some brake pad manufacturers will include the proper lube (Caliper slides) and anti-rattle hardware to ensure proper performance of their product.
Step 5: Remove Caliper Mount

Finish removing secondary caliper mount bolts and remove caliper mount. Note: clean and lube caliper slides and pad friction surfaces of all foreign material or build-up.
Step 6: Remove Brake Rotor

With the caliper mount out of the way you can now remove the brake rotor. Sometimes it can get stuck so you may need to tap it with a hammer or use penetrating oil to free it up. Some manufacturers use small screws to hold the rotor on as well. Clean and inspect wheel studs, replace if any are damaged. Also clean bearing hub rotor mount surface to ensure the proper mounting of the new brake rotor. Inspect the ABS sensor wheel for cracks or damage and replace as needed.
Step 7: Depressing the Brake Caliper

Resetting Brake Caliper
To install the new brake pads you must retract the brake caliper piston. Remove the master cylinder lid or open the brake caliper bleeder screw to allow excess brake fluid to be released if necessary. Install C clamp tool and gently tighten clamp until caliper piston is fully depressed. Note: use old brake pad to protect the caliper piston. Close the bleeders once the piston is retracted completely
Step 8: Installing New Brake Rotor

Install new brake rotor, the new rotor is manufactured with a protective film over the rotor to keep it from rusting, remove protective film with brake cleaner before installing; also after the brake job is complete you may experience a small amount of smoke from the rotor when first used. This is normal and will go away after the first couple of uses.
Step 9: Installing New Front Brake Pads

Reinstall the front brake caliper mount, and then install front brake pads. Make sure the pads are seated properly in the caliper mount; it must be a close fit to work properly..
Step 10: Reinstall Front Brake Caliper

Reinstall front brake caliper and reinstall caliper-mounting bolts, recheck all mounts and mounting bolts. Check the caliper slides to be sure there is no bind and that the caliper moves freely back and forth on the caliper slides. Bleed brake system per manufacturer's specifications to relieve any air trapped in the system. Before driving the vehicle, push the brake pedal down and let it up slowly, repeat until normal brake pedal operation resumes, this operation is forcing the brake pads to travel to the brake rotors.

How do you replace rear brake pads on 2006 kia spectra


Don't do this if your not comfortable working on cars ... someone could get hurt ...or your car could. Make sure front wheel are blocked and car is in either park or first gear.
  1. Don't set the parking break.
  2. Lift corner up to remove tire.
  3. Remove the two shoulder bolts on back of caliper .. .10mm I think.
  4. Pull caliper up and forward. Don't let it hank by the brake line.
  5. Remove pad, making sure to not lose the small clip that holds onto the ears of the pads.
  6. You need to get a special tool to screw in the piston that is on the caliper. This can be obtained for about $15 at most automotive store.
  7. Be careful to not tear the rubber piston boot when screwing piston back in ... go slow.
  8. Wipe caliper off of any dirt. Don't use compressed air. Use a small wire brush to remove any corrosion in the area where the pad ears go, if needed.
  9. Replace new pads into caliper and remount caliper onto rotor.
  10. Screw shoulder bolts back in. Don't force them as the shoulder fits into a hole in the backing plate. You should almost be able to screw them in by hand. tighten good
  11. Get in car and work parking brake about 5 times. This adjusts the pads to the rotors.
  12. Repeat on other side.

take the wheels off the front,,remove the 2 bolts holding the brakes caliper to the caliper mount and pull off the caliper,then remove the old pads by popping them out, and the remove the 2 bolts holding the caliper mounting bracket to the hub and then remove the rotor,,,to either resurface it,,or replace it with a new one,,,the put the rotor back on(new one) install the mounting bracket and pads and press the caliper piston in with a pliers and then put it back onto the mounting bracket and then tighten all bolts,and do the other side,,pump up brakes and youre good to go

15-INCH TYPE

  1. Lift-up the vehicle, and remove the front wheels.

  1. Remove the caliper body and the support from housing, and suspend it from strut using a wire.

  1. Remove the disc rotor. NOTE: If the disc rotor seizes up within hub, drive the disc rotor out by pushing with an 8 mm bolt in holes B on the rotor.
  2. Clean mud and foreign particles from the caliper body assembly and the support. 16-INCH TYPE Refer to 15-inch type. 17-INCH TYPE Refer to 15-inch type.
INSTALLATION

  1. Install the disc rotor.
  2. Install the caliper body and the support to housing. Tightening torque: 80 Nm (8.2 kgf-m, 59 ft. lbs.)
  3. Install the front wheels.
