well to make sure it is the laternator start the car and pull the positive battery cable. if the car dies it is the alternator. and usually even on the new cars. it is easy to get to. just look at the front of the hood for the belt diagram and it will tell you how to release the belt.

SOURCE: Repeat Alternator problems

umh ! dont know much about your car but has the alternator got a clutch pulley on the shaft of it ? iv known these play about on v dubs (vw)and give similar problems to yours, when you speed up the shaft slows down, then when you decellerate the shaft speeds up and causes a spike in the voltage that the ecu doesnt like,be interested to see what your outcome is,hopefully your new alt will come with one on !!!!!!!

SOURCE: Chrysler 300m battery light is on; alternator

No. The regulator is built into the alternator. The battery might be going bad. Have it checked at a local AutoZone or Advance. Also make sure you have clean terminals (posts AND clamps) and a good connection to the body on the negative terminal.

The red light flickering could be a diode fault within the alternator. Pulsating could also be a fault with the alternator or a faulty ground/earthing point for either the battery or the harness. If your drivebelt tension is fine, its more than likely the alternator. Hope this helps...

Your alternator is most likely on its way out. The electrical problems happen either when there is a short in the electrical system or there are not enough amps to run everything that's on currently.. Get your alternator tested at a parts store such as advanced auto parts.

Flickering Headlights and Dim interior lights

Definately an electrical problem....first off, check the battery and alternator connections to make sure they are tight. The problem has to be before the fuse box because the headlights and interior lights are on different fuses. It sounds to me like a loose wire, corroded battery terminals, or an alternator that is going bad. An alternator is a relatively easy and cheap fix. They cost about $100 and require removing a few wires, 3 bolts, and the serpentine belt.
