Question about 1995 Nissan Pickup

1 Answer

Tail light failure

Replaced tail light bulbs, replaced fuses, but lights will not work. Related (License illunination bulbs do not work.)? All other lights work OK. Someone suggested replacing the light switch (on the steering column), but other than that and a broken wire, is there some other component that might have malfunctioned?

Check for a bad frame ground to the rear lights. The ground is normally a common ground, not a specific ground for each bulb.
This problem happens quite a bit on pickup trucks.

Did you have a trailer light plug installed recently for towing? If so, they wired it wrong and the result of that cuts current to your veh. lights.

There is a harness that you unplugged for the rear tail lamp. Make sure it is fully pressed and locked. This is always the cause on jags for tail lamp failure.

The license plate lamp has gone out. The bulb was replaced but still no light. I thin it could be a fuse but i cannot locate the correct fuse?

If you have good tail lights, you should have a working license light. Take a piece of wire and touch the lamp socket body to a non-painted nut or bolt on the body. If no help, tug on the wire coming out of the back of the socket. It should not pull free. If it seems ok, trace the wire back to one or the other of the tail lights--there is likely a loose connection at the tail light or a junction point.
