Question about 1989 Oldsmobile Delta 88

1989 delta 88,wont spark

Put new coil on,it started up for a minute then coil burnt found out i had pinched a wire.then replaced coil and module again,now it won't get any spark or electric to module or to plugs,starter is turning over but won't start or spark,is there a fuse to starter or wiring?or what else could it be

Check the fuses in the fuse panel located in the engine compartment near the battery.... that vehicle may have fusible links as well

Wont turn over changed fuel filter and spark plugs...smell gas also has no spark...


did you test the ignition coil? Distributor cap? test the ohms resistance on the spark plug wires?

Connect control module to coil pack on a delta 88 1988


the control module is under the coil pack you have to remove the coil packs one by one but it is best to have a shop do it they can do it in five to ten minute's

1988 Oldsmobile Delta 88' car stalls out. Coil pack might need to be replaced


Check the spark on each plug wire with a calibrated spark tester.One can be bought at most parts stores.If two plug wires that are next to each other are bad then replace coil pack.There may also be a bad ignition module.Also check the crankshaft position sensor.

On Type II coil packs, the coils can be replaced separately and the ignition wires are all on the same side of the coil pack.

Car wont start.


Check the ignition switch, or timing belt. or crank position sensor.
