If you unfasten the clips that secure the top of the air-intake to the motor (while facing the motor, these are on the plastic box on your right side) the entire battery will be exposed under the air-intake.........

Clamp it on rad support or metal anywhere that's safe. (away from pulleys & belts, fan etc.)

How to bench test a starter

You need a battery and jumper cables. Connect one negative the black end to the body of the starter and the other negative end to the battery negative. Connect one positive cable end to the stud coming from the coloned and the other end to the battery. Use a jumper wire to make a connection between the positive cable hooked to the starter and the remaining pin on solonied. If starter is good it will activate. Use caution the starter can jump

IF STARTER RELAY BAD THE STARTER WONT MAKE NO NOISE AT ALL HEADLIGHTS WONT DIM.IF YOU CLICKING NOISE BATTERY VOLTAGE TOO LOW. MAKE SURE BATTERY VOLTS ARE 12.6 VOLTS AND USE TEST LIGHT TO SEE IF STARTER GETTING POWER.COULD HAVE BLOWED IGNITION FUSE OR FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. TO CHECK STARTER SOLENOID FIRST TURN OFF RADIO THEN REMOVE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE AND POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE.THEN REMOVE STARTER BUY A REMOTE SWITCH.YOU NEED BATTERY JUMPER CABLES HOOK BATTERY JUMPER CABLES TO BATTERY PUT POSITIVE CABLE ON POSITIVE BATTERY POST THEN PUT NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE ON NEGATIVE POST. HOOK BATTERY CABLES TO STARTER USE NEGATIVE CABLE GROUND STARTER BODY AND PUT POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE ON THE LARGE POSITIVE POST ON STARTER SOLENOID. NOW TAKE REMOTE SWITCH HOOK RED WIRE TO STARTER SOLENOID POSITIVE POST THEN HOOK BLACK WIRE TO REMOTE SWITCH TO STARTER SOLENOID SWITCH TERMINAL WITH LETTER S THEN PRESS REMOTE IF STARTER SPINS STRONG WITH A GOOD KICK STARTER GOOD.YOUR PROBLEM COULD BE CORRODED WORN BATTERY CABLES. WEAK BATTERY FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. IF STARTER DONT WORK WHEN YOU PRESS THE REMOTE SWITCH STARTER SOLNOID BAD OR STARTER ITSELF BAD.IF ALL IS GOOD. CODE SCAN CAR FOR THEFT SECURITY FAULT CODE.

Hi, I have a 2008 Pontiac G5 and I accidentally kept the lights on all day. Since I only have a positive (red) connection, I ground the negative connection to metal as well as the other car negative...

sounds like you are on the right track. Hook the jumper cables up to the dead car first. The red cable should go to the jumper terminal as you mentioned and a good place to hook up the black cable is the bolts on the strut tower.

then with the other car running hook up the red lead to the cars positive battery cable and then the negative to a good ground. Let the two cars sit for about 5 to ten minutes to give the dead battery a chance to charge.

Once the dead car is started let it idle with the lights turned off for at least 45 minute to an hour or drive it for the same amount of time with the light on (I assume you will be driving in the dark) or if its day time drive it for 30 to 40 minutes with the lights off. This should be enough time for the alternator to charge the dead battery.

How do you hook up jumper cables for 2007 chev equinox

Remove any covers over the battery or cables then hook up positive to positive then negative to negative. Hook the negative to the boost battery last.

Truck will not start how can i tell if its a starter or selonoid

does it spin real fast without clanging and grinding against the flywheel? if so then its probably the solenoid bad. do you have to hit the starter with a hammer then it works? it is probably bad brushes or a worn motor. eather way i think you can only get a new starter and solenoid together not sold seperate. check for bad battery cables (loose).

I need to jumpstart and cant find the battery...

The battery should be on the right hand side of the car, in the engine compartment, remember when you jump start it to hook up the jumper cables like this; negative jumper cable to negative battery terminal on your car, then positive jumper cable to positive terminal on your car, then, put the other positive jumper cable to the car that's jumper car and last connect the other negative jumper cable to the jumer cars engine block, and that should help you.

My battery is dead, and i cant open the trunk,is there a way to jump the car without breaking open my trunk?

I'm not sure if your 93 will have this, but most newer cars with batteries located outside of the engine compartment will have a positive post somewhere in the engine compartment that will let you hook up jumper cables to. You would then hook the negative to a safe engine ground.

How do I jump the battery?

Hook up the red cable wire to the positive terminal on the battery of the car to be jumped, then hook up the other red jumper cable wire to the jumper vehicles red or positive terminal, it is recomended on the car to be jumped that you attach the negative cable to a metal bracket on the motor or body that can be attached securely (good connection), then attach the other last cable to the negative battery terminal, if you cannot find a suitable bracket to attache the negative cable to use the negative battery terminal. When doing all this try to keep the two ends of the cables seperated from each other, always wear safety glasses when working on auto batteries the can explode if a spark or flame gets too close to the top of the battery.
