SOURCE: i have a 1994 gmc safari. It seems to have a smooth idle at times

Im not sure if you got it fixed yet! It could possibly be idle air control valve. But here some more suggestions! I had a 94 Safari van 4.3 liter I was working on for about three days and I finally figured out what was wrong with it. It would run fine for a couple minutes and as soon as I hit the gas and let off it would surge, but anyways I ended up changing the distributer, after the fuel pump and filter, mass air flow sensor, egr valve, idle air control valve, map sensor, and ignition module. So that might sove the problem if you were on the same track with it as I was. Hope this helps ya!

SOURCE: 1994 GMC Jimmy hard to start and runs rough when first started

i think if you checked the sparking plugs and map sensors then check your distributer its maybe not delivering the current nedded to perform the spark to some of the cylinders

Want to change spark plugs but the wires they wont come out they are stock

As long as your replacing the wires it won't matter to try this. Grab ahold of the outside of the part going over the plug with a pair od needle nose pliers and try twisting it in a circle back and forth. If that doesn't work just pull the wires until they break off and then vut what's left off.

Have a knocking noise coming from engine when I start the truck & last for a good while could it be a bad knock sensor or something, it a 2005 Tahoe

You could test if it's a rod bearing by disconnecting spark plug wires one at a time, but use insulated gloves or high voltage spark plug wire puller - some ignition systems are super high energy and will lay you out if it bites you. If it's a rod knocking, it will cease when you get to the offending cylinder. Maybe have your mechanic try it for you.

When to replace timing belt

I would replace the timing belt if you notice hard starting (longer cranking). Change by 75,000 miles. If all ok no hard start then I would push it to 1000,000 miles. Either way its going to cost at least 700 bucks as you need to replace the water pump and gasket while the motor is apart. You will probably be best off letting a certified mechanic do the job.It requires special tools and is a tight space to work in. Also get spark plugs changed. The rear plugs are a mutha and require the top end to be removed.

What tools would I use to change spark plugs and wires?

you will need a 5/8 size spark plug socket, with a 3/8" ratchet, and a 4 - 6" extenstion to remove the plugs, and the wires can be pulled off at the spark plug boot, just twist the boot back and forth a little, and then pull them off, sometimes you will need a spark plug wire boot puller, this is very inexpensive, and can be purchased at a auto part store, replace only 1 spark plug and wire at a time, this way you wont get the wires mixed up. also it is recommendable since escorts have alluminum heads to replace the plugs when the engine is cold.

Trying to change spark plugs. Cannot remove spark plug wire. How can I do this?

go to a parts store, they sell two different types of puller tools which pull the boot off the plug, instead of ripping the wire out of the boot. it is 7 and if your mileage is near 100k you may want to do the plug wires also. get a real set made for the engine, not cheap universal wires.

What all is recommended for a 1000,000 mile service workup on a 2005 Ford Explorer? About what will it cost? We are not having any trouble with it at this time.

I tell all my customer this, Preventive maintenance pays for its self. Complete diagnostic, transmission fluid/filter change, spark plugs/wires, air filter, ofcourse oil/filter. Inspect all belts and hoses, and lube the chassis where applicable. Check shocks/struts. If it runs 300 or so and saves you 3000 later, its worth it.

How to change spark plugs in 2.5 misubishi in a 1998 sebring

Remove boot to spark plug using a boot puller. Unscrew spark plugs using a spark plug socket, extension, and ratchet.
Do them one at a time to avoid confusion. Installation is the reverse of the removal.
--- FIRING ORDERS NOTE: To avoid confusion, remove and tag the spark plug wires one at a time, for replacement. If a distributor is not keyed for installation with only one orientation, it could have been removed previously and rewired. The resultant wiring would hold the correct firing order, but could change the relative placement of the plug towers in relation to the engine. For this reason, it is imperative that you label all wires before disconnecting any of them. Also, before removal, compare the current wiring with the accompanying illustrations. If the current wiring does not match, make notes in your book to reflect how your engine is wired. Fig. 1: 2.0L and 2.4L Engines Firing Order: 1-3-4-2 Distributorless Ignition System 90902g01.gif
Fig. 2: 2.5L Engine Firing Order: 1-2-3-4-5-6 Distributor Rotation: Counterclockwise 90902g02.gif

Must have Titanium Plugs ???

The plugs are not that expensive if you buy them from a auto parts outlet, the store can also recommend other types and materials to suit your car, the material provides mainly longevity and some performance characteristics. But if the plug is in the heat range, and resistive qualities it should work fine.

Hope this helps.
